Wishlist win!
Revisado: 06-02-23
I don’t remember why I put this on my wishlist. But whatever that reason was, it was worth it. Having just finished this book I can not believe how hooked I was. I understand why someone would think the plot is unrealistic and unbelievable. To those I would have to disagree and gently urge them to a different genre of books.

I understand others struggles with the narrator
Revisado: 09-18-22
I usually listen to titles at 1.4x speed. I just find almost every narrator slow and droning when they are at 1x speed. I had to listen to this title at 1.5-1.6x speed. It really made a difference in the overall enjoyment of the book.
There was a lot of the phrase ‘feeling a kinda way’ that became a little redundant, other than that the book was overall pretty good.

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

This book kept me hooked the whole time and I was super shocked at the end. To describe the book I feel that it would ruin the reveal but it was definitely worth it.

Don’t always believe the reviews!
Revisado: 08-19-22
This book was a huge question mark for me. I was just looking for things to fill in my library. I had no expectations of what I would be getting other than it was a sort of magical, sort of traditional story. I was super alarmed by the person who wrote a review saying that the whole book surrounded the character Brixton. It was super aggressive and made me question wether or not It was worth it.
I STRONGLY DISAGREE with what that person had said. The book developed the character of Zoe well and had whole chapters where Brixton was not involved. The story was gripping, sweet, and well done. Please, if you enjoy books with mystery, science/magic, and a fulfilling ending, this is a wonderful choice.
Also, there is a preview of the second book at the end. :)

I did it again…
Revisado: 08-04-22
So recently I had gotten back into listening to audiobooks with more frequency. I finished many books in the last month or so. I had discovered a few books added to my library I do not remember adding. But they all turned out amazing. This particular book was very gripping and well written. There is foreshadowing but it was not as predictable as I had assumed. The little things alluded to a dark turn of the book that did not happen. It actually became rather heartwarming. If you enjoy an interesting tale about personal growth from unexpected places, this is a very good read.

So originally I could not figure out what made me get this book. Not my usual style, not an author I knew of, and the description was not familiar when I looked again. But, I am so glad I ended up with this title. It was well written, sweet, and heartwarming. I totally recommend if you like multiple storylines happening all within the same title and/or want to read a book about modern black love in America.

Revisado: 03-02-22
I really liked this book. I have not read/listened to anything by this author before but am pleasantly surprised. It was really good and not too hard to follow along with. There are multiple POVs if that is something you do not like so fair warning. But I really enjoyed it all. The only problem I had with the story was how the son was written but that was just a preference of mine.

She's my roommate. I know how she takes her tea, how she organizes her closet. I know when she goes to bed each night, what she eats for breakfast, the passcode on her phone. I know she calls her mother on Mondays, takes barre on Thursdays, and meets her friends for drinks on Fridays. But more important than any of that...I know what she did.

Oh man was I in for it. I purchased this book knowing I was in for a gripping book full of twists and turns and was still surprised by how it turned out!!! So unexpected but wonderful. The story is everything I could hope for when looking at her books. The relationships between all the characters and the predictable nature that leaves you shocked because that’s not what happened. 100% recommend this title.
