Historia
A team of astronauts in the International Space Station collect meteorological data, conduct scientific experiments and test the limits of the human body. But mostly they observe. Together they watch their silent blue planet, circling it sixteen times, spinning past continents and cycling through seasons. Endless shows of spectacular beauty witnessed in a single day. Yet although separated from the world they cannot escape its constant pull. News reaches them of the death of a mother, and with it comes thoughts of returning home.

Read it for the feelings not for the facts.
Revisado: 02-17-25
Greatly written as a literally art peace, but it will get you very confused if you do not already know a lot of things about space and the space station specifically.

Historia
For millennia, humans have used one simple method to solve problems. Whether it's planting crops, building skyscrapers, developing photographs, or designing the first microchip, all creators follow the same steps to engineer progress. But this powerful method, the "engineering method", is an all but hidden process that few of us have heard of—let alone understand—but that influences every aspect of our lives.

Hard start, but good overall
Revisado: 06-07-23
Not a fan of the beginning of the book, but after the middle I started enjoying it. My main issue is the rules of thumb. I really do not think they are as prominent as ages passed.

Good book, just a bit more geology than I expected
Revisado: 11-24-22
There is a lot of great information I this book, and coming from a person that was part of multiple missions is great. The thing that was a bit too much for me was all the geological terminology. I totally understand why it is in the book, but it only confused me, since I have 0 background in geology.

Historia
Right now, you are orbiting a black hole. The Earth goes around the Sun, and the Sun goes around the centre of the Milky Way: a supermassive black hole—the strangest and most misunderstood phenomenon in the galaxy. In A Brief History of Black Holes, University of Oxford astrophysicist Dr Becky Smethurst charts the scientific breakthroughs that have uncovered the weird and wonderful world of black holes, from Hawking radiation to the iconic first photographs of a black hole in 2019.

Great, but a bit oversimplified
Revisado: 10-04-22
There are many great peaces of information, but I guess the target audience are people without any knowledge about physics and astronomy. For that people I guess this book will be perfect.

Historia
Somewhere on the frontier between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a parallel time and place that might sound and smell very much like our own, but which looks completely different. Particularly as it’s carried though space on the back of a giant turtle (sex unknown). It plays by different rules. But then, some things are the same everywhere. The Disc’s very existence is about to be threatened by a strange new blight: the world’s first tourist, upon whose survival rests the peace and prosperity of the land.

Great story telling, waisted on book without story
Revisado: 09-14-22
Performance of the readers was perfect, but the book not so much
Good things:
Great characters, great environmental descriptions, has a plenty of original ideas
Bad things:
there is no point for the book, characters just move from point A to point B and something happens, but none of them do anything with purpose. The closest thing to motivation for the characters is sightseeing.
"Just not for me" things:
There is just no sense in the universe the author is creating. There are no rules to follow. Magic dose whatever is needed in the current moment and in the exact way it is convenient for the author. The book felt to me like fantasy version of the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.
