Character development is beyond my expectations. I love learning each characters quirks and how their attitudes make me laugh out loud while driving to work. I'm sure anyone who sees me thinks I am a crazy person. I hate how I have to wait for the next book - as patience is not one of my cherished virtues.

Such a refreshing change. I loved the characters. I hope the author writes more with the horse shapeshifters!

I was hesitant to read due to false reports of bad narration, but I am glad I ignored them. This book kept me on edge and the narration was not bad at all. I cant wait to see where the story goes.

Spoilers: Don't read this review if you hate spoilers.

This book was not what I expected it to be; it took me a few times to finish it.

Environment:

The author did a very good job setting the scene. Though I did find I wanted more steampunk, even though the summary did not promise it, this is because of the way the author described some of the elements of steampunk. It definitely left me wanting to hear more.

Heroine:

It is annoying, to say the least. I can't fault the author for her writing. I find that I obsess over small things with my family as well, but I don't want to read/listen to it for four hours. I also found that I wanted more of Abraxas and ultimately hated the ending. The small hints of their past relationship had me excited to see what new sparks would form when they met up. Sadly, that was a lackluster reunion. I know that the ending is probably a play into a possible book two, but the fact that the heroine made a few sacrifices and still lost everything hurt my heart a bit. So kudos to the author; that was good writing on your part, but it left me not craving to read a second book in fear it will end the same way.

Heaven and Hell Dynamic:

I enjoyed this aspect of the story. The twist on heaven's angels being martyrs against the fallen was an interesting twist on angelic history. Then twisting that with demons who developed a conscience made me chuckle—well, until the ending, then I just shook my head.

Overall:

Good book. Would I read it again? Probably not, but that is due to the ending. Maybe I will try to listen once more to see if I can understand why it ended the way it did.

There might be some spoilers mentioned; don't read if you are not interested in having the series spoiled.

I was hesitant to read this series due to some of the reviews regarding the female character. I'm very wary of characters who make a situation worse because of naiveté or just plain stupidity. But after giving this entire Demonized series a chance, I am glad I did push past that review.

Book 1 sparked my curiosity. I found myself rooting for Zylas while the ignorant female pushed past her own barriers. I won't lie; the beginning had me waiving due to the speed at which the story flows and how long it took to meet Zylas. But the moment he allowed her to touch him, I found myself tangled in this new world, holding my breath and smiling. For me, that is when the magic began.

Book 2 and 3 started by irritating me beyond belief. Not because of the writing or my favorite demon Zylas, but because of the irritatingly ignorant female lead, Robin. Hear me out for a moment. Her constant battle in her mind had me frustrated beyond belief. I found myself just telling Zylas to kill her and find someone new that would look past his demon ways. But by the time I got halfway through Book 3, I realized the battle was needed. I started to relate to her struggle between who she thought she was and who she wanted to be. The termoil was needed to build that character dependability for both Zylas and Robin.

Book 4 zipped up the series and handed the ending to me with a bow on it. It ended the way I was hoping it would and left me contemplating whether I would read the related series. My favorite moment is when Zylas finally breaks down and asks the questions we all wanted answered back in books 2 and 3.

You have to speed up the narrator to enjoy this.

The story line picks up after the Air Awakens series. We are immersed in Vi's life and her journey to discover herself. No, this isn't a journey about her finding her magic. That magically rectifies itself in the first few chapters. The discovery is her discovering why she was sent away and how important she is to the survival of the world as they know it.

I won't lie; it took me many attempts to start this book. The narrator ruined the way I felt about Jax in the first Air Awakens series. She gave him a completely different accent and made his character come off as a jerk. Once I moved past that, I found it hard to push past the nasal inflictions. I almost refunded the book and marked it as a dead series. One reviewer advised the narrator is palatable once you turn the speed up, and trust me, IT WORKS.

I am debating whether or not I will attempt Book 2.

To say I was skeptical about this series is an understatement. I worried about how the series would read and if I would be able to connect to the main character. Alas, I was able to and then some.

I won’t sugar coat my review and promise undying love for all characters. Valla was hard to root for in the beginning. Her ability to throw away human nature and become a “yes man” was very annoying at best.

Aldric, on the other hand, had me turning pages and turning up the speed to read/listen faster. I found myself looking up reviews and spoilers to make sure Valla and Aldric would end up together.

But one specific part of her journey had me in tears. I won’t ruin this for those of you really interested in reading the series. It’s in book 4, and honestly broke my heart.

So summing this up: I recommend this story. Not only for the story itself, but the Narrator made the characters! Kudos Caitlin Kelly! You have quickly become one of my favorite readers and I have sought more of your narrated books to meet the characters you have brought to life.
