Historia
Welcome to Paradise, Now Go to Hell is surfer and former war reporter Chas Smith's wild and unflinching look at the high-stakes world of surfing on Oahu's North Shore - a riveting, often humorous, account of beauty, greed, danger, and crime. For two months every winter, when Pacific storms make landfall, swarms of mainlanders, Brazilians, Australians, and Europeans flock to Oahu's paradisiacal North Shore for surfing's Triple Crown competition. Smith reveals how this influx transforms a sleepy strip of coast into a lawless, violent, drug-addled, and adrenaline-soaked mecca.

having no background to surfing, and never even seeing the Pacific, this book kept me.
as much as it follows one man, this book truly is the voice of hundreds. engaging from the point of several cultures and where they meet. time to visit Hawaii with a new found respect, and hesitancy.

Historia
Take a journey through the eyes of a Marine scout sniper as he unveils the horrors of the mean streets of Ramadi, Iraq, in 2005, from losing fellow Marines and escaping death to dodging IEDs, snipers, and the chaos associated with a country’s first election. Continue the journey through Fallujah in 2007, where the fighting turns more inward, and the struggles faced when balancing the losses in war and at home. Fly through countless hours of combat missions in support of multiple countries’ militaries and the scars associated with flying the wounded and fallen back to base.

a story that will take a piece of you.
yet fill you with humility, pride, astonishment, grief, sorrow, and respect for service members that sacrificed far to much for an ungrateful nation, a nation that could never understand.

Historia
A shocking discovery in a Native American burial ground in present-day North Carolina reveals a history-changing link to ancient Rome. In 55 B.C. the Roman Senate orders their most honored general, Demetrius Varinica, to cease mourning his wife and return to Rome to lead a fleet on an ill-fated invasion. The general and a handful of survivors from the devastated Fifteenth Legion wash up on an unknown shore and find themselves in a terrifying new world where every moment is a battle to stay alive.
