Historia
From the United States and Britain to continental Europe and beyond, liberal democracy is under siege, while authoritarianism is on the rise. In Twilight of Democracy, Anne Applebaum, an award-winning historian of Soviet atrocities who was one of the first American journalists to raise an alarm about antidemocratic trends in the West, explains the lure of nationalism and autocracy. In this captivating essay, she contends that political systems with radically simple beliefs are inherently appealing, especially when they benefit the loyal to the exclusion of everyone else.

Superficial political science
Revisado: 02-19-21
I found the book interesting but pompous and shallow. It has a global approach but Applebaum’s voice detracted. She comes across as a know-it-all performer who has had a brilliant education and got straight A’s in all her courses at the best universities. She sprinkles where she’s worked and who she knows personally. I tired of her but not the book.

Brilliant writing that spans the ages. I never lost interest and was sorry the novel ended when and where it did.

Historia
When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible - and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men.

God but not outstanding Stryke novel. Nevertheless I enjoyed it and would recommend it. The narration is very well done.
