Nowadays, a lot of people spend a significant amount of money for prescription drugs, and it seems for every health issue doctors recommend some form of a drug. So, when doctors prescribe drugs for a specific health issue, then for sure this drug must be very efficient, right? Well, if you consider the amount of people using chemotherapy to treat cancer and the number of people who beat cancer with this treatment, then it's clear that the drug prescribed doesn't work very well.

Not a full-length audiobook
Revisado: 03-23-22
This audiobook was too short to actually be considered an audiobook. It is more like a booklet or research paper - it is only 53 minutes long.
Some of the information was helpful, some of it seemed redundant.
I am not sure the information regarding consumption of soy products is correct, as other sources report the opposite.

Have you heard people say that age is just a number? That perspective shows great wisdom. One's age should not influence the way anyone feels about who he or she is as an individual. Really, you are only as old as you feel. By breaking some unhealthy habits and making conscious decisions regarding how you live, it is possible to slow the aging process.

Good information but too short
Revisado: 02-22-21
The information and content of the book is good, but it is too short (audiobook is only 38 minutes). The audiobook narrator sounds more like he is delivering broadcast news. He is too matter-of-fact and I felt like he was yelling at me, demanding that I do what he says.

Delightful characters and sweet plot
Revisado: 02-22-21
I enjoyed this historical fiction which takes place in the time of the civil war. Delightful characters and sweet plot that keeps you listening.
Since I already listened to an audiobook in this series I was not as distracted by the narrator’s whispery voice for this one.

Historia
Ana Popesque arrives at Miss Ellwood's boarding house in Pine Glen to find she's boarding with a couple of very chatty housemates. The constant laughter and gossip make it difficult to focus on her violin practice for her upcoming Christmas Symphony. It's not until the other girls leave for Christmas break that Ana is left with the peace quiet of Pine Cottage. But in that silence, she hears beautiful violin music coming from the boarder downstairs.

Charming Christmas romance
Revisado: 11-20-20
This charming Christmas romance is well written and captivating. It takes place in early 1900’s at a boarding house in a small town in West Virginia outside the greater Charleston area. Nice surprises abound, but especially at the end of the story.
Narrator is well suited for the book with good emotion and accent (but her horse whispery voice lends some difficulty to listening without earbuds.

Historia
It is not hyperbole to say that Booker T. Washington was a great American. For 20 years before his death, he had been the most useful, as well as the most distinguished, member of his race in the world, and one of the most useful, as well as one of the most distinguished, of American citizens of any race.

Focuses on Washington's influence on his race
Revisado: 09-07-20
This book focuses on Booker T Washington mainly as the founder and director of Tuskegee Institute in Alabama in the early 1900’s. He was a huge proponent of education and traveled around drumming up support for the school and rounding up students to attend. He was considered a Moses for the black people of his time. It has been said of him that he was not so much conducting a school as educating a race. He believed that character was of utmost importance and also instilled in the students the virtues of hard work, simplicity, politeness, persistence, determination, and being economical. He also made sure the students learned manners and personal hygiene as well.
Other biographical elements of Mr. Washington’s life are also revealed but this is not a comprehensive work on his life.
Narrator’s voice is well suited for this project.

Historia
Do you have people in your family that are impossible to buy for? Would you like to see them light up, the next time they open their gifts? Do you want to be the king of Christmas? It can be difficult to find great gifts if you don’t know the simple strategies some people use. Did you know that 28 percent of all gifts received during the holiday period are returned for something else? That’s almost one in three presents returned, that’s crazy. And nearly 80 percent of us return at least one product to the stores each Christmas, it’s shocking.

Pleasant but predictable
Revisado: 08-28-20
Good reminders, but not too much new information provided. Gives hints and tips for buying good gifts, including some things to NOT give. Reminds the reader that the goal is to put a smile on the recipient's face. Helps one be mindful of thinking carefully about the recipient's likes and dislikes, hobbies, personality, etc. Suggests giving "experience gifts" in some situations.
I do not believe the narrator was the correct voice for this project.

Good history we should all know
Revisado: 08-18-20
Amazing to have first-hand knowledge of this history written down. These stories of fighting for civil rights in the 1960's are hard to read but important for all to know. The treatment of blacks in the south even during my lifetime is infuriating, but the stories of the brave men and women who stood firm and fought for their rights is inspiring.
Bernard LaFayette was a civil rights activist who led the charge of getting African Americans registered to vote in Selma in the 1960's. He was an associate of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., so they often ended up a the same strategic places and events. The march from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 was one such event. LaFayette purported non-violence even in the face of danger and foul treatment.

Historia
Pastor Mike Mather arrived in Indianapolis thinking that he was going to serve the poor. But after his church’s community lost nine young men to violence in a few short months, Mather came to see that the poor didn’t need his help - he needed theirs. This is the story of how one church found abundance in a community of material poverty. Viewing people - not programs, finances, or service models - as their most valuable resource moved church members beyond their own walls and out into the streets, where they discovered folks rich in strength, talents, determination, and love.

Inspiring ideas for urban ministry
Revisado: 05-07-20
This pastor has learned so much in his years of living and working in inner cities. Now, as a seasoned pastor, he shares that knowledge and real stories of hope and change in this inspirational narrative. He is not condescending to those who may have done ministry (especially in an urban setting) a different way from his, but he does encourage you to take another look at how and why you do ministry the way you do. And he would challenge you to consider if there is another, unique or effective way which might yield better results.

Detailed overview of entire New Testament
Revisado: 05-07-20
Detailed; complete. This is an overview of the entire New Testament, verse by verse, chapter by chapter. (I did not know this from the title.) You will learn much about Jesus, his disciples, Paul, and the early church. Tedious is the word that comes to mind. So much detail. For audio it’s a bit much to take in, even with a narrator who is trying to make it not sound so academic.
It is the whole New Testament in a huge nutshell.
