Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Apparently I’m in the minority, but I absolutely hated nearly every word uttered by this narrator. I don’t think I can even describe it. At times his speech is so exaggerated, at other times it’s hard to understand. Also Holly can be eccentric without sounding like a speech to text program from 1997. I’ve listened to books with objectively worse narrators, whether monotone or distracting speech patterns, but this guy is driving me up a wall. I can’t think of anything else, can’t pay attention to the story. This narrator is haunting me worse than el cuco.

Historia
For over a century, the New Hope Island vanishing has tantalized the world. How did 150 people disappear from a lonely Hebridean island, leaving no trace and no clues? Media magnate Alexander McIntyre decides to solve the mystery, and gathers a team of experts to mount an expedition to the island. He hopes running the story as a rolling exclusive will revive the fortunes of his flagship news-stand title. He hopes to find conclusive answers to questions that have teased a curious world for decades. And he wants his own secret theory triumphantly vindicated.

The other reviews mentioning the exposition and slow pacing were spot on. Would not recommend.

Historia
Still recovering from the shocking revelations they uncovered deep in uncharted territory in the Grand Canyon, American myth and legend investigator Nolan Moore and his team take on a new mission, investigating a rumored case of witchcraft and possession. Nolan hopes their new case, in a quaint village in the middle of the woods, will prove much more like those he and his team investigated prior to their trip to Kincaid's cavern.

That’s not Ken
Revisado: 09-12-24
This is my mid-book review. I’m a little surprised that this story is just a new adventure rather than including the impact of what happened in the previous story. Even though there’s a line stating how everyone wanted to leave that behind them, what happened must have changed those in this group on pretty much every level. But so far this is just “that’s over, new episode”.
But, I really came here to say I rather enjoyed the previous book’s narrator’s voice and accent for Ken. In this book… that’s not Ken. It sounds like a slimey version of Family Guy’s Stewie, and I just can’t get around it.
