Dolores’ journey is raw, heartbreaking, and deeply human. From the very first pages, I felt connected to her pain, her resilience, and her desperate search for love and belonging. Lamb’s writing is so immersive that I felt every ounce of Dolores’ struggle—her loneliness, anger, and ultimately, her path to self-acceptance.

The novel doesn’t shy away from heavy themes, but it handles them with such depth and authenticity that I couldn’t put it down. Dolores isn’t always likable, but that’s what makes her feel so real. Her story is messy, painful, and sometimes frustrating, yet I found myself rooting for her every step of the way.

This book took me on an emotional journey I won’t forget. It’s heartbreaking, hopeful, and beautifully written—a story that lingers long after the last page. Highly recommend!**

Vanessa Savage delivers an atmospheric and gripping thriller with Woman in the Dark. While some of the twists were predictable, the way the story unfolded made it impossible to put down. The writing was immersive, keeping me hooked despite knowing where some plot points were heading.

Sarah, the protagonist, was frustratingly annoying—honestly, most of the characters were—but somehow, that actually made the book even better. Their flaws and questionable decisions added to the tension and made the story feel even more intense. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with a dark, unsettling edge, this one is definitely worth a read.

This book took its time building up, and at times, I found the pacing slow. However, the ending completely caught me off guard—it was so good and made the entire read worth it! The story masterfully weaves tension and social commentary, keeping you intrigued even when the plot moves at a slower pace. The last few chapters delivered such a twist that I couldn’t put it down. If you can push through the slower moments, the payoff is absolutely worth it!

“A Court of Silver Flames” is a powerful, emotional journey of healing, resilience, and self-discovery. I truly identified with Nesta—her struggles, her rage, her growth—and I was rooting for her the entire time. Her relationships, especially with Gwyn and Emerie, were beautifully developed, and watching her find strength in herself was incredibly rewarding.

That said, the sex descriptions were obnoxious. They often felt excessive and took away from the depth of the story rather than adding to it. I would have preferred more focus on Nesta’s journey, the Valkyrie training, and the wider worldbuilding instead.

Despite that, this book delivered a raw, compelling character arc, and the way Nesta’s story played out was beautiful. If you love character-driven fantasy with deep emotional growth, this is a must-read—just be prepared for a lot of steam!

Jackal is a gripping, unsettling thriller that masterfully blends supernatural horror with real-world horrors. The novel follows Liz Rocher as she returns to her predominantly white hometown, only to find herself entangled in the decades-long mystery of Black girls disappearing without a trace. What begins as a missing persons case quickly spirals into something far more sinister—both inhuman and disturbingly human.

One of the novel’s biggest strengths is its atmosphere and tension. Adams crafts a chilling, almost claustrophobic setting where the town itself feels like a predator lurking beneath the surface. The supernatural element is compelling, adding a layer of terror that keeps the pages turning. The Jackal, as a creature, is haunting, and its presence looms over every chapter, making for a suspenseful read.

That said, while the supernatural aspect was a highlight, the underlying theme of systemic oppression felt overwhelming at times. While it’s an important and real issue, I would have preferred if the monster were simply a monster rather than a metaphor. The way the novel intertwines racial injustice with horror is effective, but it wasn’t something I wanted to be blindsided by while reading a book for entertainment.

Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the novel. The pacing was strong, the mystery kept me engaged, and the horror elements were well-executed. If you enjoy thrillers with dark, eerie folklore mixed with social commentary, Jackal is worth reading. However, if you prefer your supernatural horror without deeper allegorical layers, this might not be the perfect fit.

A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) by Sarah J. Maas is nothing short of a masterpiece, blending a rich tapestry of romance, fantasy, and suspense into a breathtaking tale that captivates from the very first page. Sarah J. Maas’s world-building is phenomenal, with every realm and character feeling complex and alive. The pacing is flawless, and the narrator’s ability to switch between dramatic moments and more tender scenes adds an immersive layer to the experience. The Perfect Son by Freida McFadden is a gripping psychological thriller that explores the dark complexities of family relationships and the lengths a mother will go to protect her child. The story revolves around Erika, a devoted mother, and her son Liam, who, by all appearances, is the ideal child—charming, intelligent, and well-mannered. However, Erika’s life takes a sinister turn when she begins to uncover shocking secrets that force her to question everything she thought she knew about her son.

The narrative is expertly paced, with tension building steadily as Erika’s suspicions grow. McFadden immerses the reader in Erika’s internal struggles, portraying her as a deeply relatable and sympathetic character. The contrast between her unwavering love for Liam and her growing fear of the truth adds an emotional depth that makes the story even more compelling.

The twists and turns in The Perfect Son are nothing short of brilliant. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the plot takes a sharp and unexpected turn, keeping you hooked until the final page. McFadden’s skillful use of misdirection ensures that the shocking revelations hit hard, making this book impossible to put down.

More than just a thriller, The Perfect Son delves into themes of trust, denial, and the blind spots love can create. Erika’s journey is both heart-wrenching and thought-provoking, making the reader question how far they would go to protect someone they love.

If you enjoy psychological thrillers packed with emotional depth, complex characters, and jaw-dropping twists, The Perfect Son is a must-read. Freida McFadden has crafted a story that will leave you thinking long after you’ve turned the last page.
