Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Incredible story! I want more!
Revisado: 04-11-25
In depth, flawed characters with strong morals. Intriguing magical world. Really well written, with great arcing storylines. Lots of humor balanced with stark, hard decision making, and lessons to be learned. Warning - the violence and dark themes can be intense. Overall it is really an incredible book, leaving you saying “just one more chapter” over and over again.

So Much Fun!
Revisado: 04-02-25
It is rare to find a series that is so well written with wonderfully constructed characters set in a captivating kingdom that our world could only aspire to become. Add in the great storylines, plenty of humor, and the life brought to the characters by the perfect vocal expression of the narrators and you have a very satisfying book!
An uplifting and very funny book series that’ will leave you smiling and yearning for more. I highly recommend them!

Excellent World-Broadening Series!
Revisado: 05-20-23
Everything about this series is wonderful! From its non-traditional cultures to its semi steam-punk inventions, mixed with a magic of its own….this world pulls you in and enthralls you. The characters are strong and smart with all too human emotions and failures. When cultures meet and clash, the choices they make on the other side are a lesson to us all.
Michael Livingston’s storytelling is masterful. Weaving many paths into one glorious pattern and leaving you wanting to hear the next chapter, and the next, and the next. Elizabeth Evans does a great job bringing all the diverse characters to life. A great series for young and old alike with strong heroes for all and a wonderful blowing up of stereotypical gender roles. Highly recommend!

Incredible Book!
Revisado: 07-14-22
This book popped up on my Audible as one they thought I would like to read. Boy were they right! This is the first one of Michael J Sullivan’s books that I have read, and now I’m going to read all the rest of his books.
His writing invites you into his world with ease, develops incredible and full depth characters, and hints at so, so, so much more to come. Or, at so much more in the other books that you have missed. One of the best books I’ve read in a while.

Great story, horrible narration
Revisado: 06-10-21
This is a really awesome series! Too bad it is hard to listen to because of the narrator.
She chops up sentences and speaks in a set cadence, usually four words at a time, then a pause, then repeat. This often breaks up phrases, resulting in a totally different meaning or emotion being conveyed than the one the author intended. all the characters seem to have the same emotional level, as well. Also, would someone please teach her how to say the word salve? And teach her how to say the “T” in words? (Writ-ten, not wri-en.) So annoying.

Historia
A thousand years have passed since a dragon has been seen in the world. Science and technology have replaced magic, which has dwindled until it has become little more than an element of myth and legend. There are those who still have dragon blood flowing through their veins, distant descendants of the mighty creatures of old. These rare humans have the power to cast magic, the power to heal, and the power to craft alchemical weapons capable of starting wars...or ending them.

Great Story, Bad Narrator
Revisado: 05-24-21
This three book set is a great intro to a world of long lost magic, alternate flying machines, and warring countries. The characters are fun and engaging, and the story is fast paced and amusing.
The narrator, however, really pulls things down. Her delivery is set in a repeated rhythm that doesn’t go with the words of the characters, the emotion of the characters doesn’t come through, and everything seems to have the same level of energy, whether it’s background information or a fight scene. Worst if all, she is of the school that cannot seem to pronounce the “t” in a word - “mountain” becomes “mounain,” for example. Dreadful.
