Finally her story will begin to be told. Following her experiences with the Jedi and the devastation of Order 66, Ahsoka is unsure she can be part of a larger whole ever again. Not all that interesting
Revisado: 12-22-16
Found this book extremely tedious and dull. I did not care for any of the characters introduced and the first 2/3 of this book seemed to drag on forever, with a story of Ahsoka hiding from the empire and living a mundane life. Even when the action FINALLY starts to pick up, I just felt so detached from all the characters involved, I felt like there were really no stakes. There is some connection to the Rebels series at the end which I found interesting, but alas, the journey there was not at all satisfying for me.
Ashley Eckstein does a pretty good job of narrating this book and it's nice to hear her reprise the role of Ahsoka, but she kind of makes all the female characters sound very juvenile, and I'm not sure they're supposed to be quite that young. Not sure if it's her voice, the way she reads it or if it's the writing.
As a pretty hardcore Star Wars fan, this is unfortunately not one I would recommend. I think there's some interesting stories that could be told with this character in this time period, but they decided to not go that route.

Good "Heist" Story
Revisado: 07-15-16
This book surprised me a little. I went into it expecting a Pirate adventure on the high seas. What I actually got was an Ocean's 11 style heist story with very little action. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good heist story too, so I did end up liking this book. The main plan revolving around the plot was pretty complicated and some parts of it were not really made clear from the beginning, so I was a little confused at certain points, wondering where this was all going. On the positive side, I thought the characters were all fleshed out well and very colorful, with their own personalities and quirks.
As far as the narration, it did take a little getting used to. I had to get about 4 chapters in before I could really focus on the story, and I didn't really like the voice he settled on for the main protagonist. I thought everyone else sounded good though, and once I settled in, I found it was mostly a smooth listen.

Historia
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

Great Performances and Production
Revisado: 06-30-16
Really enjoyed this one. It was really tense and followed the style of the original Alien movie. The voice actors were all top notch and the music and sound effects were really great. These "audio dramas" do get a little hard to follow at times as theres no narration to give you a visual idea of what's happening.
One other minor gripe I have is the chronology as this is supposed to take place between Alien and Aliens, and having Ripley in it and being SOOOOOO badass kind of took me out of it on more than one occasion. Other than that, this was a really good listen, and I recommend it.

Easy listen if not totally engrossing story
Revisado: 06-30-16
The story did not totally grab me, but I do have to say that if there's one thing that kept me coming back to listen to more, it was Sierra Kline's seamless narration. Her voice really kept me engaged and wanting to hear it through. She has a very sensuous way about her voice that suits her perfectly for this genre.

Even shorter than the run time would have u think
Revisado: 04-11-16
Okay, so I'm not going to repeat my one complaint about this otherwise good audio drama, jus check out my reviews of the previous 2 installments.
Another annoying facet of this series is that a full 10 minutes of this audio is just music. I don't quite get that. Like a 20 or 30 second music track to get you into this feels like it should suffice, but it just continues to play for just a really long time. It feels like I'm watching a credits sequence but without the credits...
I hate to sound so down on this series because I do enjoy it, but I guess I just want more out of it, especially considering the $22 price.

Great companion to the movie
Revisado: 04-05-16
I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I loved the movie. This book provides just enough insight to some of the characters and situations that it's a good companion without feeling like I needed to read it to understand certain thing in the movie.
While the narration was quite over the top at some points, I thought it was fitting, and it really kept me engaged throughout. The music and sound effects were also fitting without being overdone.

Another Great Chapter in the Series
Revisado: 03-23-16
The Expanse series continues to wow me! This one is another fantastic performance by Jefferson Mays, who keeps me engaged throughout.
I only have a couple of minor quibbles: First, the introduction of three new POV characters out of the four in this book felt a little jarring and took some time to settle into who they were exactly, but once I got to know them, I was totally invested. Still, I did really miss Avasarala and Bobbie.
Also, the climactic action in this story seemed a slight step back from the massive naval battle that took place in the previous installment of the series. It was still really tense and gripping, but just felt like lower stakes. Again, very minor gripe, but something that stood out for me.
I am still very excited for the next installment, but quite disappointed it will not be read by Jefferson Mays. Hopefully this new narrator will fill the role well.

Like chapter 1, I really enjoyed the story and performances, but it needed to be longer! It felt rushed at many points and I felt like it needed more time to get the characters where they end up.

Noir theme murder mystery in the pathfinder world
Revisado: 02-13-16
As a player of the Pathfinder RPG, I really enjoyed this book.
Salim's backstory was great. He is a really interesting character, a servant of the goddess of death who is actually atheist and completely resents her.
Exploration of the different realms, like The Boneyard, Axis and the First World were fasciNating and vivid.
The narration was very well done and kept me fully engaged.
Can't wait to check out more of Salim's adventures!

Wish it were a little longer
Revisado: 01-16-16
I play the Pathfinder RPG and have also played through the Rise of the Runelords campaign, so I did rather enjoy this story but I did seem a little rushed. It could have done with more character and story development, and there's soooo much opportunity to do that with the story as it's presented in the source material. So overall I thought it was okay but a missed opportunity to be really great.
