starts simple but gets complex

while initially I felt this book was going to be a simple gaming type book, I was pleasantly surprised with the complexity as the book progressed. Plenty of hilarious pop culture references along with plot twists I didn't see coming but which did make perfect sense. The performer was brilliant -- "God Dammit Donut" will be etched in my brain forever.

As usual, no holds barred. The Author does a nice job of making the old Skippy magic no good and presenting thoughtful foes (rather than "derrrr I'm a bad guy").

Stunningly good for a book this far into a series.

Almost every series that has started great eventually had to be abandoned as they got repetitive, dropped in quality, or just turned to "this ludicrous thing happened so the story can continue". This book expertly avoids all these pitfalls. I couldn't turn this one off and am totally on board now waiting for the next one. The narrator was also superb.

This was a breath of fresh air. Many plot twists and unexpected happenings that weren't telegraphic yet still make sense. Well done by the author.

Enjoyed the first two books but am done due to the last scene. Nothing but completely unbelievable garbage to get you to read the next book. I thought this series was better than this.

keep recent politics out.

so "you don't go to the restaurant without a vaccination during a pandemic, duh!!!" line was pulled. bad taste using recent politics at all not to mention its so recent that it wouldn't have happened in this timeline AND turns out visiting a restaurant without a vaccine had close to zero impact .

ug. great idea but even at the start the most important mission is given to a buffoon trying way too hard to be funny. Then the main character basically becomes immortal and invincible. Anytime there's a need, boom! new magical abilities. "Super Easy, barely an inconvenience". Then he decided bashing Trump 200 years into the future was what this story needed.

should have been a 2 hr short story

Not even close to the quality of the first book. it really is a short story with a bunch of situations that occur only so the book can be longer. I'm guessing the book only ends because the author met his words quota. I'm very disappointed in all the higher review ratings.
