Historia
From trips on private jets and encounters with world leaders to shocking accounts of misogyny and double standards behind the scenes, this searing memoir exposes both the personal and the political fallout when unfettered power and a rotten company culture take hold. In a gripping and often absurd narrative where a few people carelessly hold the world in their hands, this eye-opening memoir reveals what really goes on among the global elite.

Shark Attack, Big Bird, Obama, What's Not To Like
Revisado: 04-10-25
You can't go wrong when you tell the truth. From a shark attack to avoiding Big Bird, the humor shines through along with the dark side of weirdos Zuckerberg and Sandburg. (Sandburg can choke on her Lean In book and her creepy sleep with me requests) Obama, heads of state, human rights abuses, organ donation, lying, requests for information about breast feeding and bleeding, not caring about jailed employees, poor performance review for being unreachable when in a coma and almost dying... What's not to love about this memoir. Highly recommend this humorous real life horror story. Would be surprised if criminal charges are not eventually brought against the strange, pasty little man.

Historia
How is a handmade fabric helping save an ancient forest? Why is a famous fabric pattern from India best known by the name of a Scottish town? How is a Chinese dragon robe a diagram of the whole universe? What is the difference between how the Greek Fates and the Viking Norns used threads to tell our destiny? In Fabric, bestselling author Victoria Finlay spins us round the globe, weaving stories of our relationship with cloth and asking how and why people through the ages have made it, worn it, invented it, and made symbols out of it. And sometimes why they have fought for it.

Historia
One of the most admired nonfiction writers of our time retells the story of one truly fabulous year in the life of his native country - a fascinating and gripping narrative featuring such outsized American heroes as Charles Lindbergh, Babe Ruth, and yes Herbert Hoover, and a gallery of criminals (Al Capone), eccentrics (Shipwreck Kelly), and close-mouthed politicians (Calvin Coolidge). It was the year Americans attempted and accomplished outsized things and came of age in a big, brawling manner. What a country. What a summer. And what a writer to bring it all so vividly alive.

Entertaining Bryson Per Usual

If you could sum up One Summer in three words, what would they be?
Worthy, funny read about an incredible summer. Bryson takes you on the journey and you get to ride along with him as you learn about the host of bizarre, real characters portrayed.

Historia
The gigantic comet had slammed into Earth, forging earthquakes a thousand times too powerful to measure on the Richter scale, tidal waves thousands of feet high. Cities were turned into oceans; oceans turned into steam. It was the beginning of a new Ice Age and the end of civilization. But for the terrified men and women chance had saved, it was also the dawn of a new struggle for survival--a struggle more dangerous and challenging than any they had ever known....

Too dated
Revisado: 04-04-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Unfortunately, the story is too dated. Writing is ok but needed some serious editing. Some parts were laughable even though they weren't suppose to be. Don't waste your time, try Swan Song instead.

Ridiculous
Revisado: 05-24-12
This was the most ridiculous, poorly written and narrated book I have ever listened to. It sounded like the author had a third grade education with phrases such as, "Oh my," "crap," "double crap," "holy crap," and yes, even "triple crap." I sat through the main character blushing and flushing and turning every color of the rainbow. If I had to sit through one more cliched phrase, my head would have exploded. If you want to listen to someone raising an eybrow, cocking his head, smirking, saying jeez, and the absolutely worst of all, the biting of the lip about 10 million times, then waste your money. I actually feel embarrassed for the author and editor because it's so poorly and childishly written. The sex seens are completely laughable and are the antithesis of erotic. If you want to become celibate, buy this book.
