Not my style of writing
Revisado: 02-27-24
I really love Anspach/Cole. I have all of the Galaxy’s Edge novels. The only series I don’t care for is the Forgotten Earth. I guess I was not paying attention that it was a Forgotten Earth earth spin-off. I have a couple of the Forgotten Earth series and I just don’t like the writing style and I don’t think the narrator really does a great job, but that is probably because I don’t care for the story and style. I will continue to look forward to their other series, and make sure I read the full synopsis before I push the buy option.

Historia
On a little-known planet, Archmage Varic Vallenar casts a grand spell to empower himself with the magical abilities of his alternate selves. The ritual works too well, granting Varic not only the magic but also the memories from six lives. Including their gruesome deaths. Now, Varic has power greater than any wizard in galactic history, but he knows that won’t be enough. The enemies he faced in those alternate lives were apocalyptic in scale. Terrors of technology and magic. Nothing that he, or anyone, can defeat.

Really LITRPG
Revisado: 02-27-24
I did not realize until part way through that this is really a LitRPG book, Not my style. Have to have certain ship positions filled by the correct person with the correct power and they have to compete for it.
I will not return the book, but neither will I finish it. The narrator was good, but the story was poor. This was my first try for Will Wight, and probably the last.

Historia
The galaxy is burning. With the Cielcin united under one banner, the Sollan Empire stands alone after the betrayal of the Commonwealth. The Prophet-King of the Cielcin has sent its armies to burn the worlds of men, and worse, there are rumors … whispers that Hadrian Marlowe is dead, killed in the fighting. But it is not so. Hadrian survived with the help of the witch, Valka, and together they escaped the net of the enemy having learned a terrible truth: the gods that the Cielcin worship are real and will not rest until the universe is dark and cold.

A nice ending
Revisado: 01-22-23
Not the ending I wanted. Not wrong. But fitting for the this ending. Very sad. Very happy. I guess that is what the author wanted. After all, that is why we read his books. He writes the story he envisions. Thank you Brandon Sanderson for Wayne. Makes me smile when things don't go as planned. One of the few "storybook" characters I would like to meet. I would like to be like Wax. But I would like to be friends with Wayne.

Unexpectedly Boring.
Revisado: 07-02-21
I really like this author and looked forward to this title. But after 8 hours in, I had to stop. It has little to no action. Just lots of workup to some kind of climax, I expect. Not sure I can get there. Ray Porter is awesome as usual. The writing is very good and the author is extremely knowledgeable of his subject, It is just a slog to get anywhere this time. Definitely not on the same high as the first two books. I would read his next book, if I can go back and finish this one.

Historia
Udo's biggest problem isn't being a digger (that's low class), or staying drunk (that's damn expensive), or avoiding the Dwergaz (they're monsters), or even pissing off the supposed Gods. It's that his reality...well, it isn't what he thought. And now, he can't even afford to drink because his so-called friend Nicz is cutting into his business, digging up tin, iron, and copper. So Udo forms a new plan: clay. After all, clay jars are used to store everything: meat, herbs, and, his personal favorite, ale.

The only good is the narrator
Revisado: 06-11-20
This story had a lot of potential, but is just one long litany of sexual gutter humor. That was the basis for the character Udo and it really distracts from the story that could have been. I finally stopped listening with 3 hours left, because I dreaded it each time I starter listening. The only reason that I made it that far was the excellent narration by R.C. Bray. It just goes to show you how he can make a horrible story at least something you can listen to. The only reason for a 3-star was for R.C. Bray's narration. Otherwise it was a 2-star at best for me.

Boring!
Revisado: 05-12-16
After the reviews I was looking forward to this book. Halfway through I deleted it off my phone. What a waste of a credit. The main character us a useless wimp. If this is what coming-if-age has devolved into, I will skip them all. Same thing every time. He is confronted, folds into jelly, resolves to never let it happen again, then repeats. No real story line. Lots of boyish pranks in the "Academy" followed by a "caning" and repeat.
The narrator is great, as always. Hate to see him narrating thus drivel.
