Listened to this book on a road trip last summer. I was worried my 9 year old son wasn't going to like it, he's into Percy Jackson and Avengers so I wasn't sure he would be okay with a book where the protagonist was (eek!) a girl. He did just fine with it.

The book is exactly what the synopsis says it is. Charlie is a little girl whose world has been turned upside down. The dog Wishbone comes into her life and forces her to rethink everything she thinks she knows.

Suzy Jackson did an amazing job as narrator. It's really hard listening to adults do children's voices, because they sound mocking and overdone. Not so here. Great book!

So the synopsis of the book is true but misleading all at the same time. Esther is afraid of everything and when Jonah pickpockets her he gets not only her cash, phone and fruit roll up but he also gets her list of worst nightmares.

Death cursed the Solar family, and the interludes where you learn more about that is a nice touch, but the main arc of the story is Jonah helping Esther overcome her small fears while driving her to face her biggest fear. The writing is really good, I hate when YA books are dumbed down.

Tara Sands does a nice job. You can tell the characters apart and she injects the right amount of feeling into her reading.

Just enough to help my Dresden withdrawl.

The Dresden Files is one of my very favorite series. Having said that, I already have the Bigfoot audio book and have read or listened to all of the other stories except the new one so I didn't jump on this when it first came out. It was silly of me not to. Jim Butcher writes great short stories. There's always a definite beginning, middle and end- and not a cliffhanger like some authors tend to do. The new story, "Zoo Day" gives you a peak into Harry's new life with Maggie. It's the same story told from Harry, Maggie and Mouse's perspectives. That alone was worth the credit. The other stories were icing on the cake.

James Marsters is amazing, as usual. The other narrators were good too, I love Oliver Wyman from the Monster Hunter International series, but there really is no Dresden without Marsters.

I'm not a huge fan of author read stories because I feel like they don't usually have the range to voice all the characters in their books. Narrators narrate and authors write but few authors narrate in the fiction genre for good reason.

I was wrong. She managed to change her voice enough that I could hear the difference between characters. I was pleasantly surprised. She is not Zara Ramm, nor does she sound like her, but she did a way better job than I thought she was going to.

The story is a great one; I almost always hate short stories. I always feel like they end without closure and don't go into enough detail. The Chronicles of St Mary's short stories are one of the few exceptions.

The book is great. The narration is too. If you are a St Mary's fan you should get this one!

This does remind me of the holiday Plum books with the addition of Diesel. I also have to admit that I love Diesel, so when I read the reviews and saw that he was in this book I knew I was going to buy this one. I've read other reviews and know that people don't like the zombie storyline, but c'mon; Stephanie Plum plus zombies? Can you imagine anything funnier? The series started out semi believable but have just turned into a parody over time but they still make me laugh and Lorelei King is an amazing narrator. I am still a fan.

I really enjoyed The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper so I was all over this book when it came out. Benedict is the underdog of underdogs. He's separated from his wife and though he desperately wants her back, he's too scared and insecure to truly try to win her back. Just when he's at his lowest, his teenage niece shows up unexpectedly in the middle of the night and pulls him completely out of his comfort zone.
There are bits of the story that are predictable, but between the supporting characters, Patrick's writing and Langton's narration come together and make it a worthwhile listen. My only complaint is that Gemma may be a little too angst-y, but she's a teenager so. . .
Overall, a good book and an enjoyable listen.

I'm a fan of fairy tales and Garth Nix so I knew I was going to like this one. Princess Anya goes on a quest to a) find ingredients to make magic lip gloss to change Prince Denholm from a frog back to his princely self and b) find allies to defeat her evil stepstepfather.
This book has everything- talking dogs, druids, wizards, the seven dwarfs. It's brilliant!
The narration is wonderful. Marisa Calin does a nice job. She sort of reminds me of Katherine Kellgren but not as dramatic.
If you like fairy tales, this one is for you!

This is truly one of my favorite series! This book was filled with twists and turns and had me gasping out loud in some places and cheering out loud in others. The series just keeps getting better and better. I cannot wait for the wedding and whatever is going to go down with the selkies. I really need for the next in the series to come out now. Please??? Mary Robbinette Kowal does a great job. My only thing is that the first few minutes sound tinny and is a little distracting. But it goes away. Cannot wait for the next one!!!

Thank you Kevin Hearne for incorporating this line in your book!! The premise seemed a bi silly and I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book. I am an Iron Druid fan so I really should've known better and had a little faith in Kevin, Oberon and Atticus. They had me at the first line and I was forced to show up to an appointment an hour early so I could sit in the car and finish listening. The book is as silly as you think it will be, and so worth it! Luke Daniels does a great job, as usual!

FYI: Benedict Cumberbatch and David Tennant only narrate in one of six of the dramatizations, so if you're only purchasing this because of them, you might be disappointed. You shouldn't be though, because these are all great books. I read some of these for high school English way back when but I had forgotten how great these books are. They truly are timeless classics. Narration is great, I am not a huge fan of full casts but it works well in this instance.
