Waiting 'til I get my money right
Revisado: 03-25-24
An interesting story revolving around women's vulnerability during Rome's occupation of present day Britain. I liked how the author tied all the characters' roles together. Charming main character waiting for payday to meet responsibilities.

Historia
Douglas Petersen may be mild-mannered, but behind his reserve lies a sense of humor that seduces beautiful Connie into a second date...and eventually into marriage. Now, almost three decades later, they live more or less happily in the London suburbs with their moody seventeen year-old son, Albie. Then Connie tells him she thinks she wants a divorce. The timing couldn’t be worse. Connie has planned a month-long tour of European capitals, a chance to experience the world’s greatest works of art as a family, and she can’t bring herself to cancel. And maybe going ahead is for the best anyway? Douglas is privately convinced that this landmark trip will rekindle the romance in the marriage, and might even help him to bond with Albie. Narrated from Douglas’s endearingly honest, slyly witty, and at times achingly optimistic point of view, Us is the story of a man trying to rescue his relationship with the woman he loves, and learning how to get closer to a son who’s always felt like a stranger.

Annoying
Revisado: 03-03-24
The characters, especially the wife and son were so patronizing and 'por favor'.
Geez, I couldn't even force myself to listen. OMG, biggest bunch of clueless whiners. Got my credit back.

Lame
Revisado: 01-18-24
The story was a template. Granddaughter experience/ grandmother experience. Two wars. Both characters are progressive and forward thinking. Its more like time travel feminist. Male characters were also "kenough". Both readers were just not into it. Wasted credit. Will get a refund.

A pointless story
Revisado: 01-14-24
The characters were so predictable. The story was totally pointless. There was no satisfying conclusion. The beginning was a build up to nothing.
Don't waste your time or credit. Good thing I got it on a two for one sale.
The reader has a nice clear voice. But the pregnant pauses were so annoying. I'm sure it was her director's fault.

'guilt history'
Revisado: 10-27-23
I am so tired how 'colonizers' destroyed paradise. Believe me the native population was complicit. As a hispanic I know Cortez and 90 Spanish Soldiers could not have conquered Mexico with out their willing native accomplices. So it was and is everywhere 'colonizers' set foot around the world. In this same manner the Romans and the Greeks conquered the known world. Nothing historically new or shocking.
No more Tanabe for me.

A Wonderful Woman Story
Revisado: 06-13-23
A beautiful story that doesn't revolve around cat fights, and women competing against each other. A terrific story about friendship, loyalty, and women helping women.
The description of foot binding and the reasoning involved in the practice is disturbing.

Narrator sounds like Prince William. Sometimes the story gets a bit muddy.
Did get tired of author's anti-gun platform, especially when it's law enforcement doing the preaching.
