Revisado: 04-05-25
I've read this book at least 4 times now, including the ebook. I love the hurt/comfort elements and that Ash and Charlie both find exactly what they need in each other. As the series progresses, it just keeps getting better!
Zachary Zaba has become one of my favorite narrators, especially for Daddy books. I've been listening to him for a few years now and love the way he's grown as a narrator. This series is one of my favorites that he has done, especially Ted's Temerity, which is book 3. His character voices are swoony.

I understood pain and Id learned to live with it. My little house and my cabin cruiser that faithfully let me explore every part of Chesapeake Bay were enough for me and had been for a long time. I liked being alone and I was good at it. I should have driven past him like everyone else. It shouldn't have mattered that his drenched clothes clinging to his slim body and his slow but determined pace as he put one foot in front of the other called out to me in a way I never would have expected.

6 Stars ✨
Revisado: 07-31-24
There are very few authors I will put my trust in when it comes to books with angst, but Sloane Kennedy is the one I trust the most. And let me tell you, that trust was not misplaced here. Damaged was masterfully told as it ripped my heart out and put the pieces back together. The title was perfectly apt for what the characters had been through in their lives, and as their story unfolded, I came to see just how damaged they had been by their circumstances. The trauma they both suffered at the hands of others, in very different forms, was not easily overcome and they had to work so hard for their HEA. Knowing they would get there made all the turmoil worth it.
As with the rest of this series, I waited to read it until the audiobook was available. Michael Dean did an exceptional job portraying Dalton and Silver and the wide range of emotions they felt throughout the course of their story. Had my schedule permitted, I would have loved to have listened to this in one sitting because I was completely ensnared. The amount of suspense was not as high as in other books in the series, but the depth of emotion was off the charts.
Having only recently gotten caught up on the Protectors series, I know I didn’t have to wait as long for this book as many others. It wouldn’t have mattered how long the wait was, though, because this book was absolutely worth waiting for. While some things would make more sense if you’ve read the rest of the series, I do believe enough background information was given to enjoy the book as a standalone.

Former foster kid Beckett (Beck) Smith is 31 and has never had any reason to think that he's anything other than human. But meeting Oliver (Ollie) Grayson in a club stirs something primal inside him, creating a desire that can't be ignored. Learning that Ollie is an omega wolf shifter isn't a deterrent, not when he can't keep his hands off the young, vibrant, sexy man. And it's all going great until his body changes at the most unexpected and awkward moment. (It's really not funny, fate!)

An intriguing new world
Revisado: 05-27-24
I love books that have an original take on a common theme. In His Alpha Unlocked, Anna Sparrows introduces us to a world where alphas haven’t existed in hundreds of years, which makes it unique among any of the mpreg books I’ve read. When Ollie and Beck get together and let their instincts take over, what results is something no one could have predicted.
There were a lot of elements that came together to make this such an intriguing story. I particularly appreciated the scientific details that were included about shifter biology, as it lends an air of believability to a fantasy world. I can’t wait to see where things will go with the alpha and omega designations as the series continues.
Zachary Zaba did an excellent job on the narration, as always. I first started listening to books he narrated a few years ago and have always loved the sound of his voice. His inflection, tone, and voices are spot on and he really brought these characters to life.
This book contains a lot of things I expect from Anna Sparrows. It’s a well-written love story with some angst and suspense, and of course, an HEA. I’m looking forward to a continuation of the series and seeing where she will take things next.

Historia
I was intrigued by Crow at first glance. Who wouldn't be? He's a mountain of a man, who was raised in a cult, and now lives secluded in the wilderness. But the draw I feel to him goes beyond mild interest. When his intense gaze falls my way it feels like he can see into my soul, to my deepest yearnings and desires. I took a bold chance venturing to his mountain uninvited. But I can't help myself. Despite Crow’s dangerous facade, I feel at home when I’m near him. I've never felt wanted or needed… until the mountain man took me in his arms.

Stellar story and narration
Revisado: 03-27-24
I purchased this audiobook mainly because I love Zane Daniels’ narrations, but let me tell you…wow! This book was amazing. It was beautiful and healing, with a healthy dose of spice.
Crow grew up on the mountain in a cult. His father was the leader and was the expected abusive narcissist who finally ended up going to prison. That was the point when everything kind of imploded, and a young Crow was sent to foster care, which was a terrible experience for him and part of why he wouldn’t speak to anyone, until Cyrus.
Cyrus grew up with a loving, yet drug-addicted mother, and after her overdose, he ultimately turned to drugs himself. After getting out of rehab, he uprooted his life, where he eventually ended up in Crow’s path.
These men were both so broken, in very different ways. These differences were what made them the missing pieces to each other in a way no one else could have been. I love hurt/comfort and when characters just tug on my heart strings, and On the Mountain provided plenty of that. From the trauma and grief they had both endured to Cyrus’ struggle with mental illness, this book was a poignant exploration of the journey of two souls finding love, acceptance, and the freedom to give in to their primal urges.
Zane Daniels did an exceptional job, as always. One of my favorite things was that there would be a slight echo when we were hearing the things Crow couldn’t bring himself to say out loud. At first, I thought it was just some background noise that snuck in, but when it happened again, I realized it was intentional. It added an additional element that really brought the story to life and made it easier to differentiate thoughts versus speech from a character who struggled to voice what was in his head.

Adorable!
Revisado: 11-23-23
This was my first book by Duckie Mack and it was so sweet! Bo Next Door was a lighter read with a little bit of angst that was resolved fairly quickly, which I always appreciate. There was humor and also some good life lessons. I love that both Ian and Bo had parts of themselves that they let others see, and parts they only let each other see. Of course, rambunctious Ollie nearly stole the show, and played a hand in getting them together. The way friends and fans alike came together to help the animals was one of my favorite parts. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Redemption Arc
Revisado: 06-17-23
I think of all the books with the Moore and Long families, this was my favorite. When we first met Charles in Take Care of You, he was an irresponsible playboy whose son tried to manage him. In Secrets, he had started a relationship with his son's stepson, which they kept a secret from everyone. As the title of this book suggests, that secret comes out as a scandal. But there was so much more to the story. Between Secrets and Scandal, we get to see another side of Charles, and I loved seeing who he really was under the surface. The grief he'd faced, and the way he really lets go with August. How he was willing to give up everything for the chance to be a better dad this time around. It was wonderful to see how much Charles grew throughout the book, and I was so happy that he got his HEA. It was great that John Solo did the narration for this after having done the Taking Care series as well, since it provided a lot of continuity, and I always enjoy his work.

Loved these books
Revisado: 06-03-23
I really enjoyed this boxed set, as well as the bonus stories. My favorites, though, were Nox and Adam's story, and Liam, Owen, and Wyatt's. Liam is my favorite of all the characters, and I really loved the way he knew what he wanted and came up with a plan to get it. I always enjoy Kenneth Obi's narrations, but I wish there had been a little more continuity with Cooper North's narration of book 2. Obviously the voices will be different, but it would have been nice if the timbre had matched. A few characters who had deeper voices with one narrator seemed to have higher voices with the other, but that was the only thing that bothered me. I enjoyed all the books, and it was definitely worth the listen.

Nordin likes to think of himself as a modern-day Robin Hood, redistributing the wealth from those who don’t deserve it to those who do. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and it makes good use of his talents and gifts. Unfortunately, not everyone sees it like that, including FBI agent Tavin Donley. Tavin and Nordin met ages ago and from day one, were unable to keep their hands off each other.

Wonderful conclusion to the series
Revisado: 05-22-23
I was most looking forward to this book in the series, and it was a wonderful conclusion. It was a bit difficult to keep track of when things were happening, as many years pass throughout the course of the book. However, the chapters did occasionally mention how much time had passed, which was helpful, given I couldn't look as easily as if I read it in print. I don't usually seek out books that take place over so many years, but I really loved how it was handled here. Especially how things wrapped up in the end. I don't think their decisions would have been as meaningful had a short amount of time passed. I would have loved there to be more about the case at the end, since that is the kind of intrigue I most enjoy, but I also think it was quite fitting how things played out. The ending was sweet and it was perfect how everyone came together.

Billionaire business guru Charles is a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy. That's certainly no secret. Unlike the affair he's about to engage in with August who is half his age. A younger man he really has no business calling Sir. Auggie is only supposed to be pet-sitting for his father and step-dad while they are on their honeymoon. Not kissing Charles and making him laugh. Not buying his favorite food and taking him out on dates. One night is what they agreed on. A secret shared between only their lips as Charles discovers he's not so straight after all.

Very enjoyable
Revisado: 05-14-23
I listened to the Taking Care series a while ago and when I heard Secrets & Scandal were going to become audiobooks, I was very excited! I waited to listen to the book rather than read the ebook, so this was my first time with this story. I loved seeing a different side to Charles. There is more depth to him than it seemed when we first met him in the other series. I knew he and Auggie were together, but am enjoying the journey to that actually happening. There is a lot of push and pull, because both characters know the scandal it would be if anyone discovered they were together. Auggie's dad is married to Charles' son, and Charles himself is married (though in name only). I'm glad that John Solo narrated this one, since he also did the Taking Care series. The continuity is great, and it feels like returning to visit old friends. I can't wait for the conclusion to Auggie and Charles' story!

I'd been waiting my whole life to run. When I uncovered hidden papers detailing my inheritance, I knew my time had come. I packed my trunk full of plant babies, black nail polish, and determination. With my demons in the rearview mirror and my trauma for company, I made my way to Elmwood. The remote Maine mountain town is home to my future, a potential love interest, and a lot of really weird, possibly deadly secrets.

I loved the snark!
Revisado: 04-27-23
This was my second book by Fae Quin and I really enjoyed it (Let Your Hearts be Light was my favorite holiday read this last year!) I must say, Colin was my favorite character, even though he wasn't one of the main characters. His snark was fabulous! He made the beginning of the book absolutely delightful. I enjoyed the little bit of intrigue, even though none of the twists were surprising. I pretty much expected most of what happened toward the end, but that pleases me. I read romance for a reason, and that predictability makes my anxious heart happy. I haven't listened to many books that Alexander Cendese has narrated, but this was my favorite so far. While I wish we had more from Richard's perspective, I think it worked really well for the dual narration to have most of it be focused on one character. I am very much looking forward to the release of book 2 later this year!
