Gripping haunting mystery

my favorite thing about any novel is the use of plot twists. this novel kept me engaged with the expectations of the unexpected and it did not disappoint. this is the first novel I've listen to by this author, but I am minutes away from starting a second.
Though at times, the performer seemed lackluster when voicing the protagonist. But in general I was impresses with her American and Southern (No Carolina) accents.

not one dull moment through the end,

I listened via audiobooks. The story was gripping with plot twists- my favorite thing. I love that every interview made by the protagonist was laced with more "happenings" I have found this to be typical of this author, which is one of the reasons I like her so much.

The performer was amazing too. So many voices!
I love this author and cant wait for the next book aww!

Be aware of graphic detail

the performer was amazing with her accents and different voices.
Although I know this is fiction, the story detailed the gruesome, nightmarish truth of 1940s occupied France and the indescribably brave heroism that occurred all over Europe during that time.

it seemed to take a while to get off the ground. But not sure how much of the story was undermined by a lackluster performance.
Nevertheless, I am still eagerly waiting the next book by her. I just hope its a different reader.

I just wish the author had found an actor to narrate the book. Or maybe hire a director. But the content was stellar.

disappointing

inwas looking for the same riveting story as the last one by this author. I gave it 2 hours and 12 chapters. when I started skipping chapters and not losing the story line, I decided to quit.
The format is interview to interview to interview with absolutely NO action. My least favorite format. Oh interspersed with narratives about the protag personal life. BORING.
This same reader that was awesome last time became like a drone buzzing in my ear.
Will try another read by this usually excellent author.

exciting and riveting storyline. intriguing characters.
absolutely amazing performance. so good that even if the book had been boring (which it was absolutely not), the reader would have made me continue.

interesting premise, but maudlin and predictable

lackluster performance. storyline interesting enough for me to finish it, but typical boy meets girl etc romance. And the charaters were always in angst.
It did touch on some embarrassing and brutal US history. Thats what saved it for me.

Predictable and a bit too "cathlolic" and judgey. though does cover some women's issues. However I got bored as there was not enough intrigue to hold my attention after the climax of the story.
