Historia
Working at the local processing plant, Marcos is in the business of slaughtering humans - though no one calls them that anymore. His wife has left him, his father is sinking into dementia, and Marcos tries not to think too hard about how he makes a living. After all, it happened so quickly. First, it was reported that an infectious virus has made all animal meat poisonous to humans. Then governments initiated the "Transition". Now, eating human meat - "special meat" - is legal. Marcos tries to stick to numbers, consignments, processing.

Dehumanizing
Revisado: 08-12-24
One of the things I admired most about the book is how easily humans can disregard other humans when placed in certain situations. It seems that as long as we can justify the means to achieve a certain end, we are prone to being manipulated if the proper evidence is put out on a platter for us to consume. I particularly enjoyed the audible version of the book as it maintained the native language's flair within the English translation. I think it would make an amazing TV series.

“What does she want from me?” A young Iranian immigrant panics as she’s being chased through the streets by an unknown blonde woman. When their two worlds collide, the answer to that question becomes increasingly unsettling in Afsaneh Gray’s The Other Woman, a bracingly unpredictable audio experience. The two women find they share similar struggles in a society that doesn’t see them…but as their relationship develops, what feels like liberation begins to shift into an all-too-familiar dynamic.

Historia
This audiobook is a laugh-out-loud funny and brutally honest look at female sexuality, as told through the razor-sharp lens of domesticated bad girl BB Easton. No one and nothing is off limits as BB revisits the ex-boyfriends - a sadistic tattoo artist, a punk-rock parolee, and a heavy-metal bass player - that led her to finally find true love with a straitlaced, drop-dead-gorgeous...accountant. After settling down and starting a family with her perfectly vanilla "husbot", Ken, BB finds herself longing for the reckless passion she had in her youth.

Historia
In Ted W. Lawson’s classic Thirty Seconds over Tokyo, Lawson gives a vivid eyewitness account of the unorthodox assignment that 85 intrepid volunteer airmen - the “Tokyo Raiders” - under the command of celebrated flier James H. Doolittle executed in April 1942. The plan called for 16 B-25 twin-engine medium bombers of the Army Air Corps to take off from the aircraft carrier Hornet, bomb industrial targets in Japan, and land at airfields in China.

My dad recommended this to me, the day after Pearl Harbor 2022. A Human’s will/ability to survive, no matter the side, is always humbling and inspiring. Great read, a snippet of war.

Show Vs Book
Revisado: 07-18-19
This book is fantastic! I started watching the HBO series this month and am now anticipating the ending to the season...since the ending of the book went a different path then the series. I recommend the book because it fills in other aspects of the characters that the series didn’t touch base on. I felt more intimate with the characters after listening to the audible version of the book, in a way that watching it just doesn’t give a person.
