Historia
Once we were drivers, the open road alive with autonomy, adventure, danger, trust, and speed. Today we are as likely to be in the back seat of an Uber as behind the wheel ourselves. Tech giants are hurling us toward a shiny, happy "self-driving" future, selling utopia but equally keen to advertise to a captive audience strapped into another expensive device. Are we destined, then, to become passengers, not drivers? Why We Drive reveals that much more may be at stake than we might think.

An absolute masterpiece!
Revisado: 11-16-23
Why We Drive covers the importance of maintaining our freedom and humanity and not giving over our free will to big tech. In this book we see the infantile effects of AI technology and how it intrudes upon us in order to “idiot proof” our lives. This book is a must read.

Underdeveloped Characters
Revisado: 09-02-21
First off: THE NARRATOR IS NOT THAT BAD. I actually didn’t notice anything different about him.
I really love a good adventure. However good books also need strong, lovable characters. I did not feel attached at all to these characters. When they fought and died I really didn’t care. Which lead to the book being difficult to follow. I would definitely recommend this book to kids 11-14 but I really don’t feel that it provides enough character quality for older listeners.
Other than this, excellent story. I really appreciate the lack of foul language or sexual content. That is very enjoyable and appreciated. I will listen to the next book.

Historia
Now remembered as the author of the world's most famous hymn, in the mid-18th century, as England and France stand on the brink of war, John Newton was a young sailor wandering aimlessly through life. His only duty was to report to his ship and avoid disgracing his father - until the night he heard Polly Catlett's enchanting voice caroling. He was immediately smitten and determined to win her affection.

Rubbish
Revisado: 05-14-21
I only lasted 5 chapters. It was a study of Victorian flirtation for 5 chapters! The same guy, liking the same girl from every angle you could analyze. Too sappy and unrealistic. I couldn't stand it any longer. After 5 chapters, the plot wasn't going anywhere! The book felt more like a high school creative writing assignment on flirtation.

Love Francine. Not the best story.
Revisado: 03-22-21
I really wanted to like this story. I love Francine Rivers. There was so much sexuality and physical abuse in this story - I just couldn't get through it and I definitely didn't want my daughters to read it. It was a heavy book - lots of sexuality and depression and physical abuse. I'm sure the good guy was going to rescue the main character in the end, but I couldn't make it that far. I returned it.

The story line in this story was good and I liked the characters but it just lost me. I feel like all the action scenes were short lived and were too obvious. Maybe you will like the story but it just wasn’t my cup-o-tea.
