Good sampling, very good narrator
Revisado: 11-14-24
Nice little sample of Tennyson to check out, some great, some good, and the reading voice, the tone and pacing, and the production and editing were all done well which is better than many other poetry audiobooks.

Historia
As Islam moved from its Arabian heartland to a wider geographic area, its core message remained albeit adapted to different lands, to different ears. Poets were ever eager to provide an alternate way of delivering the ‘message’ in beautiful verse. Their simplicity was embracing, their ornateness a humble offering to greater forces. The poems here are both profound and wide-ranging.

Performances were mostly pretty good, chapters are divided well which not all poetry audiobooks have (wish authors were written out in the titles), and found a small handful of names to explore further. Editing and audio is iffy at times, but a decent short listen at an affordable price.

Enjoyable for Seinfeld fans and those interested in bigger life takeaways
Revisado: 10-27-24
Really enjoyed the listen. Great to hear his narrating of his own story, appreciated all of the inside Seinfeld details and other parts of his career, and also had some more interesting reflection points than I expected. Some humor, rise fall and rise again drama, spirituality, introspection and more. If you’re a fan you won’t be disappointed.

Historia
The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. Included on the recording are several shorter works. The Ainulindalë is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabêth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Númenor at the end of the Second Age, and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age.

Great performance, difficult length and details for a listen
Revisado: 05-28-24
Andy Serkis is great and there are important details for the overarching story in here, but holy wow is it difficult to keep track of the thousand names and places he basically just lists in this book. It’s for diehards and researchers, not for an enjoyable listen. Just read chapter summaries online if you’re not prepared for that.

Enjoyable short stories, audio chapter editing is messed up
Revisado: 05-08-24
Worth a listen if you’ve never heard these fun stories before. The main narrator is fairly good.
The chapters are all cut up incorrectly with multiple titles in single audio chapters, and the story titles aren’t included in the chapter names. Also whoever the narrator for the outro section is should not force themselves into any more audiobooks as it sounds slurred and hard to follow along, but that’s only the last 10-15 minutes.

Historia
A true musical polymath, Beck shifts between and blends genres and generations with a preternatural ease—one foot in the secret history of American music and the other moving toward the future. Consistently brushed off by industry gatekeepers on both coasts, Beck perseveres—ultimately building a bespoke audience of millions who share his borderless musical vision. In Dear Life, Beck proves that the most powerful art is made by those who are brave enough to be fully themselves.

Great listen and background!

Everything was awesome and great to hear the mindset between albums. Only issue was the Production team making the music sound all warped and weird in the interludes.
