Historia
Deep in the heart of an alien mountain range, I.C.C. has lain dormant, its ships silent, for eons. Now, after 100,000 years, the AI is awakening. Someone is roaming the convoy's halls - someone that isn't human. This planet, Noumenon - created by the megastructure known as the Web - is too young and brutal to have evolved intelligent life. Its surface is bombarded by unusual meteors. Crystal trees abruptly and violently arise from its bedrock. Its solar system is surrounded by a frightening space-time anomaly. So where did these visitors come from? What do they want?

wow.. what an utter nightmare
Revisado: 04-23-25
why is it that the one book in a series that isnt audible plus, is always the worst?!
what a disappointment. the first 2 books were riveting. this book is beyond awful. i had to listen to the first chapter, 3 times because it was so dang boring i realized i hadnt absorbed any of it.
once they went too far into the modified humans it was ruined. why not introduce another convoy that could have met up during a time that was lasped over?
this story is going absolutely nowhere. all the characters are not even 1 dimensional. this book is comolete garbage.
i had wondered how one could write so many hours of good content. it turns out there is a limit.

In 2088, humankind is at last ready to explore beyond Earth's solar system. But one uncertainty remains: Where do we go? Astrophysicist Reggie Straifer has an idea. He's discovered an anomalous star that appears to defy the laws of physics and proposes the creation of a deep-space mission to find out whether the star is a weird natural phenomenon or something manufactured.

Revisado: 03-28-25
i have a high expectation for A G Riddle books. all the free ones on audible are amazing. the last couple i spent credits on were just so-so
could be 1) i expect amazing books out of AG. but also 2) when i spend a credit im far more picky lol.
anyways this one has a cool concept, it just was not sure exciting for me. its hard to always like the main characters. Harper isn't so bad at first. but at the end she becomes kind of annoying. i wanted to like nick, but he makes a lot of poor choices. and is overly aggressive.
Sort of spoilers below
Yes, people like a hero. yes we want to save people. but we dont send untrained and exhausted people into a water rescue. (who were just injured in a plane crash) esp the way he went about it. its one thing to ask if anyone wants to help. its another to shame and force people. and the whole "nobody gets off this plane until we saved everyone. what an irresponsible, foolish, and downright dangerous thing to say. then we have harper who isnt bright enough to not just stare in to space like a moron. not bright enough to know its time to go.
these things i found irritating and it made me actually stop listening for a couple days. idk seems the book is missing something.

They find a lush planet inhabited by a civilization far more advanced than their own, waging a seemingly endless war against a constantly evolving enemy. The Sorans call the pair of them the "Earthborn", and they're welcomed as heroes, almost as gods.

what an amazing series. i absolutely loved all the characters esp alpha.
i do wish the narrator hadnt done noahs voice the way he did. and i did notice a couple times he did the wrong voice.
but otherwise wow. no negatives to say about the books at all. told my husband to listen even. and he isnt much for scifi.
these are action packed and you really truly care about the characters.
i recommend this to anyone.

i have read better stories on the episode app
Revisado: 02-25-25
narrator: she was fine honestly. she didnt have good material to work with, but she was ok.
characters: cliche. the main character is obnoxious. shr had the maturity of a 13yo child. she is entitled and incapable of thinking of others. her "im a girl that always speaks my mind. and i always fight for whats right" attitude is obnoxious. esp for somebody who doesnt give a crap about anyone but herself. every choice she makes is centered around her no matter what. she is the very cliche "im so tiny omg other girls r so much bigger than me. im so quirky and everyone wanrs me" and i absolutely despise her. 0 character growth. oh bex (annoying nickname) bite me bite me i trust u. "but its dangerous" no it isnt just do it just do it.. then omg ur a friggin monster u were gonna kill me.
the main vampire has no complexity either.
dialog: cringe cringe cringe. even for a sleezy vampire smut book. i literally rolled my eyes sp often i was afraid they actually would get stuck. it was tough to listen to.
story: boring and predictable. the only reason i didnt change it is bcuz audible glitched and wouldnt let me click off. i was at work and wanted some sort of backround noise.
this book will only appeal to weird housewives that have nothing better, or 13yo girls who r wanting to read dirty crap.
i cannot even imagine how this has more than 1 star. yuck yuck yuck.
if u like cheesey immature cliche vampire live stories just read some on episode. they r literally written by 16yos and are better than this.

Historia
In Compound Eleven, the hierarchy of the floors is everything. My name is Eve Hamilton, and on my floor, we fight. Which at least is better than the bottom floor, where they toil away in misery. Only the top floor has any ease in this harsh world; they rule from their gilded offices. Because four generations ago, Earth was rendered uninhabitable—the sun too hot, the land too barren. Those who remained were forced underground. While not a perfect life down here, I’ve learned to survive as a fighter. Except my latest match is different.

Yet another book ruin by the m.c.
Revisado: 01-29-25
1. Narrator: sometimes a bit weird w expression and emphasis but not bad. Just ok.
2. General story idea: cool concept. Reminds me a lot of dust/shift/wool by hugh howey. If you removed all the excitement, the twists, the character developement, and that series was actually good. Otherwise world ruined, living in bunker, lower level ppl treated less than. Same. This book takes a looong time to get nowhere.
3. Main character: here is where the problem really is. Main character is the typical ramona the pest style. Messy tomboy w an attitude that just cant ever be decent. Idk why ramona pops in my head but she does a lot in books like this. This girl, eve, is cringe worthy and obnoxious. She never has any character growth at all. And the whole "im a fighter and i always speak my mind and oopsies it gets me in trouble but i always try and stand up for the little guy" its over done by now! Eve cannot be kind or understanding ever. Her "im not like other girls im sassy" stuff gets OLD. Blaming everyone else for everything, always. I was esp annoyed with her blaming the bunker about her brother, yet not also having some resentments w her family over it. Ill touch on this again later. She is a 2 dimensional character. And selfish.
:::::SPOILERS POSSIBLE:::
So some plot points that bother me:
Eve is mad bcuz they took her little brother out due to the 1 kid policy so she hates the preems(sp?) Because of that. But her mom and dad knew full well that policy and shouldnt have even tried. It put their child in danger. Why is eve not holding her parents accountable at least a little? It sounds like there is birth control. At least abortions. So why risk that? Also she gets mad about a cleansing and says there could be other ways to keep the population down besides that. Ya, there is.. its called the 1 kid policy that people dont seem to listen to.
Then the wanting to go to another bunker was stupid as we know the others would be the same anyways.
But the main thing that got me angry. Wren comes down while running late for his important test to urge her to bring her close denominator friends up to the mean floor. Its obviously very important or he wouldnt have told her to.. with it being illegal. So one who is actually smart would put 2 and 2 together and realize something bad may be about to happen. She goes down to ask but barely makes any effort. Had this several minute long thought (yet again) about lying. And doesnt give them good reason. Could have said hey grab ur closest friend and family come up stairs i think something bad is going to happen bcuz wren urged me to do this. But no she doesnt. And her friend gets killed in front of her own son. Then she has the audacity to get angry at wren for "not telling her". He did. He told u to get them up there. Why else would he do that?!! Come on dude. Its her fault. She could have made it clear there was probably an emergency. But she is selfish. All we hear is about her her her and her feelings. And curse anyone who hurts her feelings. But she isnt the problem?
Whatever. I had to fst fwd so much in this book. I tried so hard to give it a shot. It wasnt worth it
