Historia
The Palestinian Delusion is unique in situating the Israeli/Palestinian conflict within the context of the global jihad that has found renewed impetus in the latter portion of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. Briskly recounting the tumultuous history of the "peace process", Robert Spencer demonstrates that the determination of diplomats, policymakers, and negotiators to ignore this aspect of the conflict has led the Israelis, the Palestinians, and the world down numerous blind alleys. This has often only exacerbated, rather than healed, this conflict.

Clear headed analysis
Revisado: 03-23-24
This was a detailed and cogent analysis of the most difficult conflict in human history. While the author has clearly been telling this story for many years, he lays out fact after fact without invective and only a little hyperbole.

This was a phenomenal read. The book tells the true secrets of executive politics while pretending to be a comedy (a very good one nonetheless).

When John Bandicut sets out across the surface of Triton, he's hardly ready for the storm of chaos that's about to blow through his life. The alien Quarx that soon inhabits his mind is humanity's first contact with an alien life. The Quarx, part of an ancient galactic civilization that manipulates chaos theory to predict catastrophic events, seeks to prevent a cometary collision that could destroy the Earth. But it must have help. If Bandicut chooses to trust the Quarx, he must break all the rules - indeed, sacrifice his own life.

Mind numbingly dull
Revisado: 12-25-22
This could have been enjoyable with a better narrator. I was surprised at the end to find it was a modern story, because the character is so typically mid 20th century - obnoxious and emotionally unintelligent

Historia
When Murderbot discovers a dead body on Preservation Station, it knows it is going to have to assist station security to determine who the body is (was), how they were killed (that should be relatively straightforward, at least), and why (because apparently that matters to a lot of people - who knew?). Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen: Murderbot must voluntarily speak to humans! Again!

East Antarctica: the coldest, most desolate location on earth. Two-and-a-half miles below the ice cap is Vostok, a 6,000 square mile liquid lake, over 1,000 feet deep, left untouched for more than 15 million years. Now, marine biologist Zachary Wallace and two other scientists aboard a submersible tethered to a laser will journey 13,000 feet beneath the ice into this unexplored realm to discover Mesozoic life-forms long believed extinct - and an object of immense power responsible for the evolution of modern man.

Historia
Slough House is a dumping ground for British intelligence agents who've screwed up cases in any number of ways - by leaving a secret file on a train or blowing a surveillance. River Cartwright, one such "slow horse", is bitter about his failure and about his tedious assignment transcribing cell phone conversations. When a young man is abducted and his kidnappers threaten to broadcast his beheading live on the Internet, River sees an opportunity to redeem himself.

Revisado: 08-24-19
This story might be interesting. Every once in a while there is an intriguing moment, but then the narrator’s drone fades to the background. Even when I try to pat attention to his words they eventually become virtually incomprehensible because I can’t bear his endless droning

So much hype and left me disappointed
Revisado: 04-22-19
Storyline told mostly as a narrative and then randomly as flash-forwards and flashbacks left me confused and annoyed. While the plot makes clear the terror and strangeness of living in communist China, the characters are poorly developed and then have random deep-dives into historic episodes, simply so that the author could make a point about politics. The science meanwhile is poorly conceived and the titular three-body problem ultimately isn't correctly presented or resolved (even besides the fact that there are four bodies involved)

Historia
While he's not quite a household name, most people would consider H. Jon Benjamin, the voice-actor star of Archer and Bob's Burgers (and a sentient can of mixed vegetables in 2015's Wet Hot American Summer) a comedy show business success. But he'd like to remind everyone that as great as success can be, failure is also an option. In a hilarious, self-deprecating memoir, Jon lays out some of his many failures in all areas of life, from Work ("wherein I'm unable to deliver a sizzling fajita") to Family ("wherein a trip to PF Chang's fractures a family").

STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

Hit and miss
Revisado: 03-21-19
This should have been a fascinating story. The author is extremely creative and generates a broad and coherent alternative reality. The protagonists are far too shallow however, and their only individuality is derived from endless juvenile humor. Since the antagonists are equally vapid, it too quickly becomes clear that the whole plot is just a fiction within a fiction.
The narrator is ok but can't do character voices. The audio itself is problematic. There are long gaps, and some strange transitions leading me to think that some audio was chopped out accidentally.
