Historia
Julia Fox is famous for many things: her captivating acting, such as her breakout role in the film Uncut Gems; her trendsetting style, including bleached eyebrows, exaggerated eyeshadow, and cutout dresses; her mastery of social media, where she entertains and educates her millions of followers. But all these share the trait for which she is most famous: unabashedly and unapologetically being herself. This commitment to authenticity has never been more on display than in Down the Drain. With writing that is both eloquent and accessible, Fox recounts her turbulent path to cultural supremacy.

this book is a pure polaroid of what it means to be human— beautiful and painful and ugly and rapturous ... they are all the same thing. that thing they are that is same you might call "being alive", if you insist on distilling it down to something digestible or making it a caption for your next TOS violation on instagram. but if really want to know, you could just go down the drain

Historia
I had an uncle who left his hometown and the family business there to become a fine actor. His talent was a minor one, but a pretty one. It lasted for 15 years and was gone. He came home with the ashes of it and died 20 years later, poor and, as it happened, drunk.

Listening to this should be done in one sitting. Then, and only then, will it be like stepping on a thumbtack, but in the best way.

Historia
We live in a civilized world... except in those places where society is ruled by tribal law. In Pakistan, much of the culture is based in tribal history going back thousands of years. In this episode, Andrew shares a tribal story from Pakistan and looks at how the lessons of that story are still relevant in our civilized society today. Human beings are tribal and we can either learn from our history or repeat it.

This may not be the very first episode released by Andrew, but it gives me a good sense of the foundation behind his perspective and motives. A great mind that comes from fighting his way to the top and, believe it or not, actually doing what he was told (following direction??? whaaaaaaa…..) and found a great philosophy for life and lifeskills that apply something like universally for real world people like me. Highly recommmend!

Historia
A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Creative Narration, Captivating Narrative, Clever Name
Revisado: 03-09-24
Each character seems to have its own voice, which makes for a good listen and an easier time of distinguishing them when not named. The storyline(s) are believable and play the chords of many emotions, making it easy to get attached and therefore hard to put down. The name of the collection known to be “The Adventures of Dunk and Egg” is a wonderfully clever way of making a time and place very far from our own somehow relatable and endearing, especially knowing that the young squire, who is oft made to humble hisself to conceal his true identity as just a royal, will some day in the far flung future be king himself; the contrast is all that more intriguing and especially if one is knowledgeable of other records of the history (and future) of this universe. It adds to the complexity dreamed up by Martin, without disrupting in any way the fabric that holds it together. I thoroughly enjoyed and look forward to exploring more of the annals of Westeros and the surrounding lands!
