Historia
When Speaker Newt Gingrich greeted Dr. David Lewis in his office overlooking the National Mall, he looked at Dr. Lewis and said: "You know you’re going to be fired for this, don’t you?" "I know," Dr. Lewis replied, "I just hope to stay out of prison." Gingrich had just read Dr. Lewis' commentary in Nature, titled "EPA Science: Casualty of Election Politics".

Revisado: 04-02-25
The true nature of our government agencies revealed- and it’s very bad. Extremely well written book exposing the sociopaths running our country’s “watch dog” departments. Pure corruption. Unfortunately, the narration was a boring, sing-song delivery.

Historia
Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease - a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this paradigm-shifting book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible. Writing with clear, persuasive language, he explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease.

Dr. Fung breaks it down CLEARLY for the novice
Revisado: 01-16-25
Dr. Fung’s one of the few doctors who’s broken the chains from allopathic medicine brainwashing, which prescribes lifetime medications for curable diseases. He’s really my very favorite Doc, and I’ve purchased all his books both in audio & paperback format. AND I’ve given the Diabetic Code to three of my friends & family. One was able to completely reverse his type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Fung’s abundance of common sense makes him my most trusted resource.

Bought this book because of its 4.7 rating. What a disappointment! I think I suffered through chapter 10 because I was trapped in the car, but I’m done with this mediocre book.

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Only have a little over an hour in…
Revisado: 07-16-24
And this narrator unbearably grates on my nerves. He has the snobbiest of English accents, and EVERYONE sounds like an old man even if they’re in their teens. Roy Dotrice was a very poor choice with a stunted range. This book requires the vast talents of someone like Robert Glenister, who would’ve offered a magnificent & absorbing performance.
I loved the series and watched it twice, but I can’t listen to this. I wasted a credit.

This classic expose of the Fed has become one of the best-selling books in its category of all time. Where does money come from? Where does it go? Who makes it? The money magician's secrets are unveiled. Here is a close look at their mirrors and smoke machines, the pulleys, cogs, and wheels that create the grand illusion called money. A boring subject? Just wait. You'll be hooked in five minutes. It reads like a detective story - which it really is, but it's all true.

Exceptionally written, reminiscent of an edge of your seat spy novel, but it’s all true! The reader was likewise perfect and sounded much like the author. Terrifyingly, we’re headed for deep trouble….

Revisado: 07-11-19
Could not stop listening, one of those rare books, which sucks you up into its tangled web. The narrator was absolutely amazing!! From English, to Irish, to American accents; old, young, male or female, she did it all with precision.
As the book’s beneficiary, I understood the plot better than the main protagonist, but still the fine-tuned details remained totally fascinating. Loved it!

Historia
Vinh Chung was born in South Vietnam, just eight months after it fell to the communists in 1975. His family was wealthy, controlling a rice-milling empire worth millions; but within months of the communist takeover, the Chungs lost everything and were reduced to abject poverty. Knowing that their children would have no future under the new government, the Chungs decided to flee the country. In 1979, they joined the legendary “boat people” and sailed into the South China Sea, despite knowing that an estimated two hundred thousand of their countrymen had already perished at the hands of brutal pirates and violent seas.

America's national parks spring from an idea as radical as the Declaration of Independence: that the nation's most magnificent and sacred places should be preserved, not for royalty or the rich, but for everyone. In this evocative narrative, Ken Burns and Dayton Duncan delve into the history of the park idea.

Revisado: 04-05-19
Both the book and documentary are utterly inspiring. Dayton Duncan and Ken Burns are my hero’s. Only wish either Duncan or Shelton Johnson had narrated. I found most the commentators either robotically miscast or slightly chaffing to the ear. Although I’m sure their nice people :)

Most incisive novel yet!
Revisado: 12-13-18
First off, I’d give the narrator 6 stars if I could.
Secondly, Liane Moriarty created beautiful and interestingly normal characters, all human, funny, and intelligent in their own ways.
Having suffered the identical tragedy, her acute depth of emotions was right on. I loved the book and every single person in it, including Marsha. Moriarty is a genius.

Combining his trademark comic voice and very real expertise in woodworking - he runs his own woodshop - Paddle Your Own Canoe features tales from Offerman's childhood in small-town Minooka, Illinois, to his theater days in Chicago, beginnings as a carpenter/actor and the hilarious and magnificent seduction of his now-wife Megan Mullally.

Liked him on Parks and Recs, now not so much...
Revisado: 09-09-18
Not funny or witty, but self-congratulatory and lectury.
This “artist” takes himself way too seriously. The only chapter that made me crack a smile was when he stalked his ex-girlfriend to Jamaica. It could have been hilarious, but since he doesn’t know how to be self-deprecating his over-the-top behavior was rationalized.
Also, his writing style drove me crazy. As if he sat with a thesaurus to make his average sentences sound intelligent. Made it to chapter 9 to where “I could stands no more”.
