Historia
Quinn Quicksilver was born a mystery—abandoned at three days old on a desert highway in Arizona. Raised in an orphanage, never knowing his parents, Quinn had a happy if unexceptional life. Until the day of “strange magnetism.” It compelled him to drive out to the middle of nowhere. It helped him find a coin worth a lot of money. And it practically saved his life when two government agents showed up in the diner in pursuit of him. Now Quinn is on the run from those agents and who knows what else, fleeing for his life.

Perfect narration

Todd voiced every character distinctly in this story, which was a typical Koontz novel with all of the twists and turns, insightful observations of the human condition and fascinating story telling you could wish for. I highly recommend this book

Murdoch publication.
Revisado: 11-01-21
When I heard that The Wall Street Journal was a part of the Rupert Murdoch group and it had published a big bunch of lies from the disgraced, twice impeached former president I stopped downloading it. I frankly am glad you are discontinuing it. I won't listen to it anymore, even though the stories are often OK and the narration is good here at Audible.
It's a matter of principle. If they'll print something like that what else won't they print? Nope, I'm boycotting the WSJ just as I'm boycotting Fox News and every sponsor that advertises on their channel and every other Rupert Murdoch publication. If enough of us do that perhaps Murdoch will change his ways a little.
Thank you for discontinuing them.

Wonderful
Revisado: 09-04-21
This book and the one before it are both excellent. I cannot wait for the third book to come out.
I love finding new series where I have to wait for the next book, especially series that have an almost sure destiny of being classics eventually and finding a wide audience. "Game of Thrones" was like that. I read the first one almost as soon as it came out. Then I had to wait for the next one, and the next... Martin writes very slowly, but the books were worth the wait, each and every one of them. One of these days I'll watch the TV series.
The Honor Harrington series was the same way. I stumbled upon it early in the series and after that I began buying first editions, paying gladly for the hardback books though I knew a paperback would follow in short order, as publishing measures time.
This will be the same way, I believe. The characters are well developed, relatable and the story is nothing short of astounding.

Kibou-daini is a planet obsessed with cheating death. Barrayaran Imperial Auditor Miles Vorkosigan can hardly disapprove—he’s been cheating death his whole life, on the theory that turnabout is fair play. But when a Kibou-daini cryocorp—an immortal company whose job it is to shepherd its all-too-mortal frozen patrons into an unknown future—attempts to expand its franchise into the Barrayaran Empire, Emperor Gregor dispatches his top troubleshooter, Miles, to check it out.

Maybe the last Miles book?
Revisado: 11-12-20
I went back and listened to all the Miles Vorkosigan books starting with "Shards Of Honor", the very first book that details how Miles mother and father met sort of accidentally on a planet being surveyed by his mother to be, Cordelia Naismith of the planet Beta and the commander of a Barrayar military ship. This is counted as book two, but honestly book one about the quaddies is really, in my mind, a stand-alone book, though it does take place in the same universe as the other stories and indeed, has a bearing on a few of the Miles stories. I won't go into the order of all the books about Miles, the ap does that for you. But I wanted to give a review of the series and I thought doing that with the last book was my best bet. As I write this though it might make more sense to do a review of the first book if my agenda is to get you to read all of them. And, to be up-front, that is my agenda.
The Miles Vorkosigan novels are some of the best known "space opera" and best written books of any type ever authored by anyone IMHO. Lois McMaster Bujold is a real genius. So often as I laughed out loud or found myself in tears while listening to these books I would think, "Who writes like this?" Indeed, no one does. She's like an Asimov and Heinlein and Weber rolled into one, with a little McCafferty thrown in and leavened by some Janet Evanovich. She's just brilliant. One of the best ever and if you've not read any of her books, I envy you, in a way. You have all that brilliance ahead of you. I assume by the time you get to this book I'm preaching to the choir, but if you just happen to run across this book and are thinking about listening to it, I recommend you go back to book 2, or even book 1 in the series, as "Falling Free" is a wonderful story by itself.
However you listen to her, I am sure you will be entertained. I know of no writer better than Ms. Bujold, and honestly, I'm thinking of starting all over again. These books are that good.

I Love Lois
Revisado: 10-03-20
This woman can WRITE! Grover Gardner does the reading of this tail with his normal excellence, and then some. He is one of the best narrators on Audible, IMHO. His reading is nuanced, paced and something very important, paused properly. Ms. Bujold's books are filled with little jokes, funny situations, odd and very hilarious circumstances. He always reads these perfectly, which makes listening to her books as much fun as reading them.
There are also very sad situations, deaths, confusions and all the things that people do that make life interesting. The characters are well drawn and developed. Worldbuilding is the best ever. Did I tell you I love Lois? Well, I do. In my book, she is one of the best writers in Science fiction and Fantasy ever. I put her right up there with Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, Bradbury, Pournoulle, and McCaffrey. Actually, she's somewhere near the top of that list.
You can read a synopsis above. I just want to say, I loved this book and I love Lois. Did I tell you that?

Micheal Cohen doesn't spare himself or Donald Trump in this book. He takes responsibility for becoming a "cult member", and details the behavior of Trump as Cohen falls into the role of being Trump's "fixer".

Historia
As President Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton spent many of his 453 days in the room where it happened, and the facts speak for themselves. The result is one of the few White House memoirs to date by a top-level official. With almost daily access to the president, John Bolton has produced a precise rendering of his days in and around the Oval Office. What Bolton saw astonished him: a president for whom getting reelected was the only thing that mattered, even if it meant endangering or weakening the nation.

Insightful
Revisado: 07-06-20
Ron Butler does a superb job of narrating Steve Benen's knowledgable and insightful book about how Republicans don't want to do any of the hard work of actually governing. Instead, they are using media consultants and social media as well as TV and manipulation of the news cycle to grab and hold onto political power.
He offers many examples. For example, he relates the Republican's failure to develop a cohesive health plan while working through the courts and legislatively (i.e. cutting the individual mandate to zero). Benen also points out how the Republican minority in the House opposes any legislation developed by the Democrats, and how, in the Senate, Mitch McConnell and his cronies simply refuse to allow any bills developed by the House Democrats onto the floor for debate. (He is sitting on more than 400 policy bills developed by House Democrats.)
Thus they make their political living by opposing anything Democrats work to develop while not doing any of the work of governing themselves. Republicans are not offering any bills themselves. That's too much work. It's all about power. Who can grab the most political power and hold onto it? Republicans believe this is the way to do that. Voting them out is the only way to change that dynamic.
This book is well researched and well written. If you're interested in current-day politics and how it's playing out in today's political climate, you will enjoy this book. If you're a die-hard Republican... not so much.
