Historia
Two people were murdered—at the exact same time, in the same gruesome manner, bodies covered in the same red poppies…but on opposite sides of the country. With Detective Kara Quinn investigating in Oregon and Special Agent Matt Costa in Virginia, the Mobile Response Team digs deep to uncover more about each victim. What is the link between the two, and why were they targeted? Yet their search unearths more questions than answers—until they meet Riley Pierce, the only person still alive who might be able to help them find the killers.

Historia
Working alone as a private investigator is tough. Estranged from her PI family, Margo Angelhart does what she must to get by—including taking on sordid cases that pay the bills, even if she’d rather be helping those the justice system has failed. That is, until a cheating husband case she’s working intersects with her siblings’ corporate espionage investigation, forcing Margo to cooperate with the Angelhart firm. Now, as the siblings compare notes, it’s clear they need to work together before a white-collar crime escalates to murder.

First book I've listened to by this author, but I will be listening to others. The story was compelling and well put together. Like others I will be waiting for the next installment of the Angelheart family.

Historia
A behind-the-scenes operator at the CIA, Wallace was integral to the agency's secret war against China's national intelligence service, which infiltrates government offices, major businesses, and systems crucial to our security. Wallace had severely damaged China's Washington spy ring with a devastating ruse, a so-called "black swan", in which a deep-undercover female agent targeted and destroyed a key Chinese official. Now, Wallace's mysterious death suggests that the CIA itself has been compromised and that China has someone inside the agency.

Historia
When Admiral William Halsey selected Destroyer Squadron 21 to lead his victorious ships into Tokyo Bay to accept the Japanese surrender, it was the most battle-hardened US naval squadron of the war. But it was not the squadron of ships that had accumulated such an inspiring résumé; it was the people serving aboard them. Through diaries, personal interviews with survivors, and letters written to and by the crews during the war, preeminent historian of the Pacific theater John Wukovits brings to life the human story of the squadron and its men.

I noted that some reviewers were not that impressed with the story but having been born in January 1939 in Washing DC and living there for over 20 years the war was an important part of my young life and after. This is a great telling of the life of a sailor on a Destroyer during the entire war but most importantly the first couple years when the outcome was in doubt.

Historia
Over the past two decades, Antony Beevor has established himself as one of the world's premier historians of World War II. His multi-award winning books have included Stalingrad and The Fall of Berlin 1945. Now, in his newest and most ambitious book, he turns his focus to one of the bloodiest and most tragic events of the twentieth century, The Second World War. Thrillingly written and brilliantly researched, Beevor's provocative account is destined to become the definitive work on World War II.

Excellent Account of entire war
Revisado: 03-29-13
What made the experience of listening to The Second World War the most enjoyable?
I have some age related eye issues and this book is over 800 pages long so listening is much easier than reading. I listened to much of it on a 7 day cruise as I walked 45 miles on the deck.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Second World War?
The retreat of the Germans from the Red Army
Have you listened to any of Sean Barrett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
FIrst one
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This is not a book for the weak of heart. Many graphic details of the horror of the war and the effect on the citizens and soldiers that were involved.

Historia
This volume is dominated by the almost continual confrontation of great armies. For the fourth time, the Army of the Potomac (now under the control of Burnside) attempts to take Richmond, resulting in the bloodbath at Fredericksburg. Then Joe Hooker tries again, only to be repulsed at Chancellorsville as Stonewall Jackson turns his flank, a bitter victory for the South, paid for by the death of Lee's foremost lieutenant.

What made the experience of listening to The Civil War: A Narrative, Volume II, Fredericksburg to Meridian the most enjoyable?
The narrator seemed to have a Southern accent which added to it since the author is from Memphis, Tennessee as I recall.
