entertaining story and great performance
Revisado: 11-15-22
I really like it when the different characters are voices by different people - esp when they do a good job. There are some sound effects but not too many and not too loud to that they distract from the goings on in the store. The quirky characters make listening fun.
Each episode has little mini-events happening that help us to learn more about the characters. I'm about halfway through the available episodes and am looking forward to discovering how the whole thing is going to tie together. I can kinda see where they're going but it's not obvious and it'll be an interesting journey.
note: I saw on a previous review someone was complaining about politics being involved, as if the author was trying to convince listeners to believe a certain way. That person must be very sensitive because it's a real stretch to call any part of this political. Random brush fires are bad; abusing the restrictions put in place to conserve water is bad. that's not political, it's common sense. Further, the author in no way lectures or soapboxes about this topic. It's just an event that happens.
I just think it's sad that some people are so hyper-sensitive that they give an author a lower review because of their own issues, perceived slights and political beliefs, while ignoring what the author actually says.

Historia
Jack Diller is just one more struggling actor on the road to nowhere. He’s got an agent who barely remembers his name, his ex-girlfriend has hooked up with a Silicon Valley dude, and the milk in his fridge is so far past its sell-by date it’s historic. The only way Jack can scrape together a bare existence is by delivering food to exactly the types of successful people he wishes he could be. Then, one day, a very strange audiobook shows up on his phone.

Everything you want in an audiobook. Great story, real, emotional performances and other added audio to add interest.
I'm not sure what others are complaining about...I listened with earbuds and found the volume of voices and music and sound effects to be equal and perfect. I suspect that they may get need newer devices.
If you like post-apoc or supernatural type stories, you'll like this alot!

weird.

Apparently I missed the point of this. Honestly without the little title synopsis I wouldn't have had any idea what the point of this story was.
The performance and other sounds/music was great which is why I gave it the stars I did.
But really not so great to waste a half hour I could have been listening to something better.

loved it; but not for everyone
Revisado: 08-10-22
I read through all the reviews and none are wrong... even the ones who hate it. But I think they're missing out on the point: the gross parts, the ridiculousness and heavy handed, over the top language is what made it great!
It's not a complex story that will keep you guessing but it is still super entertaining! So if you're easily offended or grossed out you probably won't enjoy this all that much. If you don't mind some "bad" language and have no arbitrary taboo lines of topics that you refuse to cross then you'll find this fun to listen to. All the narrators were great as their characters!

The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. While there's certainly aspects of a "ghost story", this is definitely not a scary supernatural tale. It is more about stories and learning lessons from them.
I highly enjoyed the reader's voice and performance style.
definitely recommend this book!
