Historia
An in-depth look into the creation of the post-WWII Healing Revival focusing on the historical perspective of William Marrion Branham, who has been credited by some as the evangelist who both initiated and led the movement. From his involvement with the Kardashian family in California to his politically-charged sermons supporting the revival of the Ku Klux Klan, William Branham lived a fascinating and unbelievable history connected to the collaboration, influence, and power of recognized public figures and events in American history.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-26-24
What I wanted was definitive evidence of Pentecostal preachers pushing a white supremacist message. What I got was ancillary characters, a detailed timeline of the ministry, and a couple of slurs here and there.
What I wanted was a larger conspiracy to push the US towards white Christian nationalism through ‘Americanization’. What I got was clumsy tales of ufos, the JFK assassination, and Jim Jones.
That being said, there is some useful information here. But sadly, this is more of a personal memoir of deconstruction.

Historia
In The Secret History of the American Empire, Perkins zeroes in on hot spots around the world and, drawing on interviews with other hit men, jackals, reporters, and activists, examines the current geopolitical crisis. Instability is the norm; it's clear that the world we've created is dangerous and no longer sustainable. How did we get here? Who's responsible? What good have we done and at what cost? And what can we do to change things for the next generations?

The Silmarillion to Confessions (LOTR)
Revisado: 12-12-22
Replete with incomplete tales of globetrotting adventures told in what amounts to linguistic blackface. The truths of John’s career are always intriguing and worth attention. However, often times he moves on without getting to the core of his actions in the region. The ending is a palm to the face apologia of capitalism. Individual responsibility, win-wins, and high road capitalism. John’s gets so close to point but just misses the mark.

Historia
Innovation. Meritocracy. The possibility of overnight success. What's not to love about Silicon Valley? These days, it's hard to be unambiguously optimistic about the growth-at-all-costs ethos of the tech industry. Public opinion is souring in the wake of revelations about Cambridge Analytica, Theranos, and the workplace conditions of Amazon workers or Uber drivers. It's becoming clear that the tech industry's promised "innovation" is neither sustainable nor always desirable.

Don’t listen to Mark
Revisado: 08-19-21
Disregard the review by Mark who let his person politics cloud his judgment. He is just a bitter capitalist who can’t stand that the author is a Marxist who might have a salient critique of big tech. He might even be an operative, who knows? Good book, needed to be written.

Skip chapter 4
Revisado: 07-27-21
Good book, good narration. However, the author couldn’t help but spend most of chapter 4 apologizing for Hillary Clinton and complaining complaining about her 2016 loss. He undermines the philosophical divide of the left by explicitly blaming Bernie support on Russia. Otherwise the book is a salient one if you can handle the neoliberal drivel in chapter 4.
