Historia
Sidney Crosby is ready to tell his story in his own words. As one of the greatest NHL players of all time, he reflects on his 2005-06 rookie season with the Pittsburgh Penguins. From a Canadian phenom dubbed “the next Gretzky” to an 18-year-old carrying the burden of a struggling franchise, he talks candidly about the intense pressure he was under, the surreal experience of lacing up alongside his childhood idol Mario Lemieux and the truth about his rivalry with Alex Ovechkin.

Excellent presentation.
Revisado: 10-08-22
I have read/listen to many biographies or autobiographies of various sports legends. This presentation was especially good because of the narrations by Sydney, his family, his team members, and Mario Lemieux. Mr Crosby is a ‘one of a kind’ hockey player and a wonderful sounding human being. His parents must be so proud of their son and all he represents.

Historia
In 1978, in the tailwind of the golden age of air travel, flight attendants were the epitome of glamor and sophistication. Fresh out of college and hungry to experience the world―and maybe, one day, write about it―Ann Hood joined their ranks. After a grueling job search, Hood survived TWA’s rigorous Breech Training Academy and learned to evacuate seven kinds of aircraft, deliver a baby, mix proper cocktails, administer oxygen, and stay calm no matter what the situation.

Best book about flight attendants ever
Revisado: 09-20-22
I started flying with Western Airlines in March, 1970 and retired from Delta Airlines (the company that bought Western after deregulation in the 80’s) due to health reasons in August,2008. I found this book to be the most powerful and truthful look at the life of flight attendants that I have ever “read”. The fact that it was read by the author made it all the more special. Thank you Ann for all the memories of the best career and adventures I experienced for 38 years. My love for Western Airlines equals yours for TWA. I am forever grateful for my time in the industry and that I was a part of “The only way to fly”.

Historia
Beginning in the predawn hours of airports in the Northeast, we meet the ticket agents who unknowingly usher terrorists onto their flights, and the flight attendants inside the hijacked planes. In New York City, first responders confront a scene of unimaginable horror at the Twin Towers. From a secret bunker underneath the White House, officials watch for incoming planes on radar. Aboard the small number of unarmed fighter jets in the air, pilots make a pact to fly into a hijacked airliner if necessary to bring it down.

WOW!
Revisado: 11-16-20
This was a great book about the horrors that took place on 9/11. It brought back many feelings l and my friends in aviation had that day. This year was the first time that l didn’t immerse myself in memories of that horrific day (hello COVID) but the shadow will remain forever. The voices in this book telling the stories were perfect. My only regret in buying the audible edition is the lack of pictures that l imagine we’re included in the book and the references. A PDF like some books include would have been appreciated.

Revisado: 06-18-20
Although l almost always give the star ratings after l listen to a book, l seldom take the time to write a review but l had to for this book. I have read all of Michael Connelly’s books and this has always been my favorite. Listening to this book took it to another dimension. I almost felt like l was watching a play; the characters voices were distinct and consis

Revisado: 12-16-19
I would have returned this book had l been able to on the website. In the end, l listened to all of it for lack of anything better to do. I never did “get into” the story, found the characters uninteresting for the most part, and the narrator uninspired.

Historia
Twenty-five years after her passing, Audrey Hepburn remains the most beloved of all Hollywood stars, known as much for her role as UNICEF ambassador as for films like Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Several biographies have chronicled her stardom, but none has covered her intense experiences through five years of Nazi occupation in the Netherlands. According to her son, Luca Dotti, "The war made my mother who she was."

More than a biography
Revisado: 11-25-19
This was a fascinating character study of Audrey Hepburn as well as The Netherlands of WW ll that impacted, or perhaps even formed, the rest of her life. It was mesmerizing and l listened well into the night when l should have been sleeping. I have traveled in Holland and wish I’d known more of the “recent” history of some of the cities such as Arnhem in the pre and war years when l was there. If you are interested in Audrey Hepburn or what life was like during the Nazi’s regime in Holland, l highly recommend this book.

Written by an award-winning New York Times sportswriter, American Pharoah is the definitive account not only of how the ethereal colt won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont Stakes, but how he changed lives. Through extensive interviews, Drape explores the making of an exceptional racehorse, chronicling key events en route to history.

Fascinating story of a Triple Crown winner
Revisado: 11-08-19
I bought this book because it was on sale. I am not a true lover of horse racing though l did watch the races that could produce a championship horse in the run for the Triple Crown since the 70’s when Seattle Slew was the champion. I quit watching any horse race after Barbaro’s terrible accident at the Preakness in 2006. This book was a fascinating story of American Pharoah who was the latest Triple Crown winner. It was full of information about a champion horse, his owner, trainer, and riders that was actually difficult to put down. If you have any interest in the “sport” of horse racing, l highly recommend that you purchase this recording. I only wish Audible books came with pictures as I imagine that there were pictures in the hard copy of this book that would have added a lot to the story of this amazing horse.

Interesting thriller
Revisado: 08-09-19
My preferred genre of book is mysteries and l haven’t read thrillers in over a decade. This book caught my interest and I am very glad that I purchased it. The story was fast paced with enough twists to keep me guessing on what would happen next. The character development was excellent— I felt like I would recognize most of them if they were actually real and l saw them on the street.

Fascinating book
Revisado: 07-22-19
I really enjoyed every aspect of this book. The story was fascinating and performance by the narrator excellent. It was a hard boom to listen to at times. Often l finish a long book like this in a couple days but it took me over a week to complete this book. Often l had to quit as the subject pained me and l needed to distance myself for a day. I want to see if the library has a copy of the book to see if there are any pictures in it. I know this was a novel based on facts but l did look online to see what was there that was real.

Revisado: 05-27-19
I enjoyed this book for what it was. Lighthearted, almost free of explicit sex, interesting twists, some humor, wonderful family dynamics. I doubt that I’ll buy another book of this genre for a few more years...but l did like this book enough to listen to it in just 2 sittings.
