Audible Originals takes to the high seas to bring to life this timeless tale of pirates, lost treasure maps and mutiny. When weathered old sailor Billy Bones arrives at the inn of young Jim Hawkins' parents, it is the start of an adventure beyond anything he could have imagined. When Bones dies mysteriously, Jim stumbles across a map of a mysterious island in his sea chest, where X marks the spot of a stash of buried pirate gold.

Thrilling, page turner

Other than the sound effects, accents, and older out of style phrasing - this is one of the best books, and best audio productions, I’ve heard.

Not what I expected! Riveting, exhilarating, moving, horrifying, dark, reflective, philosophical, spiritual
Revisado: 09-19-24
Pop culture gets Frankenstein so very wrong, communicates it so shallowly. I’m glad I came to the source. There are some tenuous plot points, but apart from these, this is one of the best books I’ve ever experienced. I’m left with much to chew on and analyze, and I cling to Christ as my only refuge from the ultimate end of the same vices and horrors I see in myself reflected in this story. May we all find, and share, the love of God that Frankenstein and his creation longed for.

Very good
Revisado: 10-09-23
As usual, CS Lewis makes me think thoughts and take fresh perspectives on human existence that I wouldn’t have otherwise, and they’re the kind of thoughts and perspectives that make you a more intelligent and plain ol’ better person. He does so through entertaining, highly imaginative - though sometimes pedantic - storytelling. I have listened to it twice, and I got more out of it the second go around.

Historia
In this two-book combo, you’ll find unnerving thrillers and detective stories which showcase the powerful prose and talent of G. K. Chesterton. With detectives, murders, and conspiracy, these stories have entertained people for generations and have inspired countless others across the thriller genre. With artful prose, paradoxes, and a dose of philosophy, these powerful books cement Chesterton as a literary legend, and are a must-listen for anyone interested in thrillers, classics, and stories that make you think.

Good plot, though Chesteron’s detective protagonists (Father Brown as much as Horne Fisher) are sometimes annoyingly and dramatically vague in their communication. The narrator is too slow for me, I had to listen on 1.1-1.2x. If using Audible credits, don’t spend them on this, you can listen for free on LibraVox.
