Fascinating book; don't care for the narration

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Plouffe's account of the history making Obama campaign is a great read. He goes in to great detail in explaining the strategy, the successes and the mistakes. I love the book itself. The narration, on the other hand, is a bit annoying. The narrator has a raspy voice that is difficult to listen to. He attempts to change his tone when speaking as Obama or as females in the narrative. This just doesn't cut it. But the content is enough to overcome the shortcomings of the reader.

Annoying, Self-Centered and Egotistical

Total
1 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 04-18-09

This audiobook was very difficult to listen to for several reasons. The author would like you to think he is on a spiritual path, but then his commentary is a put-down of his listeners, basically telling them they are fat, lazy, out of shape and lacking motivation. He, on the other hand, is handsome, rich, successful, fit and a gift to the world. This is the most egotistical alleged spiritual piece I've ever listened to. Any of his references to females are extremely sexist and he comes off entirely too superficial. And his voice is very grating - at times, he sounds just like the Shaggy character on the Scooby Doo cartoon. He should have had a professional narrator do this, but I'm sure his ego would not allow that. It's hard to believe that I actually listened to the entire book.

A cluttered and dull narration

Total
1 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 03-29-08

This audio book is a perfect example of when the author should not narrate his own audio book. Walsh's dull narration has very little inflection and no enthusiasm for the topic. If you manage to get beyond this, the points of the book could have been made in less than an hour - your cluttered environment contributes to excess pounds. His recommendations are nothing that haven't been in other books on clearing clutter and losing weight. The world didn't need another book on the topic. I had to chuckle to myself when, after he has gone on and on about getting rid of the stuff in your house, he recommends you go buy one of his other books! Note that he doesn't recommend that you go to the library and check it out. Save your money, save your time. Clean your house; you'll lose weight - that's all this book says.

Shirley's continuing journey

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 03-15-08

Those of us who have been sharing the spiritual journey along with Shirley Maclaine will no doubt enjoy her latest offering. As another who is also aging, even though a generation younger than Shirely, I can appreciate her candidness in talking about the changes in one's body, the aches and pains that weren't there yesterday and the nontraditional methods one can use to treat them.

Shirley's book also covers her discovery of balancing the body's ph level, moving into her new home, and some amazing stories and revelations about UFOs and alien abductions told in a way that only Shirley can.

I am so pleased that Shirley narrates the book herself, unlike some of other authors. You really get a sense that she is talking directly to you.

I'll be listening to this one again in a few months - there's so much to comprehend, I know I'm not capturing it all in just one listen.

Fair and balanced - for real!

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 07-19-07

Carl Bernstein's biography of Senator Clinton presents something that no other biography of her has done before - a completely balanced and unbiased look at her life. It is neither pro nor con - but, rather, a extremely well written and captivating story about the most fascinating woman in American politics today.

Very dry; nothing new

Total
2 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 06-30-07

Caution: do not listen to this audio book while driving - it could put you to sleep. The narration is very dry and monotone - it was an effort to listen to the entire program. There really aren't any new or innovative concepts presented in this book. The presentation is geared entirely toward an office worker or paper pusher. It's the "same old - same old": prioritize your tasks, get the most difficult one out of the way first. And it took nearly three hours to say those two things.
