Historia
Once again, the Kingdom of Gwynedd under young King Kelson found itself facing the horror of war between the Church and the Deryni. As the Pretender Queen plotted to free Meara from Gwynedd's control, and the ex-Archbishop hatched a devious plan, it looked like the peace of Gwynedd was to be a thing of the past.

Couldn't finish because of the narrator
Revisado: 03-27-22
I purchased this book despite the other reviews regarding the narrator. I love this series but but had to return it because I cannot stand the narrator. Why would they use someone with a deep voice for a king who is 14 or 15 years old? Sadly, I had to return the book because I could not get past the narrator's flat inflection.

Too many recipes
Revisado: 03-08-22
There were more recipes than any other book, sometimes 3 at a time, breaking up the story too much. I used to appreciate the recipes but this is getting ridiculous. Does she have a word count she needs to meet?

Revisado: 02-04-20
I loved the addition of Boots. The ghost cat story line was fun and charming. It really made the book for me. I promptly went back and listened to it again. I wish he could make a surprise appearance in the future!

Historia
Hannah is thrilled to be marrying Ross Barton, her college crush. And her excitement only grows when she learns he'll be able to join her on her trip to New York City for the Food Channel's dessert chef contest. They get a taste of the Big Apple before Hannah wins the Hometown Challenge and the producers bring all the contestants to Lake Eden to tape the remainder of the show. It's nerve-wracking enough being judged by Alain Duquesne, a celebrity chef with a nasty reputation. But it's even more chilling to find him stabbed to death in the Lake Eden Inn's walk-in cooler.

The mystery itself was OK, but the baking competition really made it for me. I loved that story line, it was the part that made me want to return to listening to the story as quickly as I could.

Wonderful
Revisado: 11-11-18
What a wonderful story and performance. It would have been worth paying for, so what a boon that it was available for free. Interesting that the president's voice vaguely reminds me of our current one, who has the same message to learn as we all do.

Returned the book
Revisado: 05-30-18
I own many audio books and have only returned two. This was one. WhenI read reviews that say the narrator was horrible and they could not listen, I usually I'm not that bothered. However, well I wanted to enjoy the story, the narrator bothered me so much I never got into to the plot and returned the book early on. I could not get past his accent, speed, and general delivery.

OK story, not so good narrator
Revisado: 02-29-16
I thought I remembered the story as being better when I read it years ago. Perhaps I was more aware of the similarities to The Lord of the Rings. There seems to be a lot of non action description but those parts may have come across better if the narrator did not have such a droll voice. I kept having to rewind because he lost my attention. If he narrated the other books in the series I definitely will not be buying them.

Good story, to-do narration
Revisado: 05-31-15
Narration was a disappointment. She does not have a wide range of voices, especially in range of tone. Particularly disappointing was the rendition of Yuki. Carolyn McCormick is much better. Worth listening, though, but I hope there is a sequel since the book ended up very abruptly.
