Historia
When your biggest superpower is also your most critical weakness, it helps to have a manual on how to control it. Entrepreneurs are creative, bold thinkers and risk-takers capable of great accomplishments. At the same time, for every success story, there is a counter story of an epic collapse caused by a lack of a moral compass, values, or proper guidance. Jeff Hays knows the highs and the lows having ridden that rollercoaster many times in his life and career and provides a much-needed user’s manual for entrepreneurs everywhere and the people in their work and personal lives.

As a daughter, wife and mother to people with the entrepreneurial brain (and now realizing that I, too, have this propensity) this book is a treasure! Learning how Jeff navigated his complex circumstances with this amazing brain and then sharing his secrets of how to survive will change my life for the better! Thank you for this book! I’m getting a copy for my son and husband!

Historia
Many people today think the Bible, the most influential book in world history, is not only outdated but irrelevant, irrational, and even immoral. This explanation of the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, demonstrates clearly and powerfully that the opposite is true. The Bible remains profoundly relevant - both to the great issues of our day and to each individual life. It is the greatest moral guide and source of wisdom ever written.

This was a fantastic, deep dive of the book of Genesis. I came away from this book with a deeper love of stories I already loved and believed to be true.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

I listen to dozens of books each year but I mostly steer toward the self help and spirituality variety. This novel touched me in a way most of those books could not. I saw myself and my experience of faith in the main character and my feeling as a mother in Sam’s mother. I rarely write reviews but I feel compelled to offer my experience because I was so deeply moved.
How do you express the full circle of a faith crisis? And anyone paying any attention can see most of our world (myself included) has suffered a major shift of faith. I love how well Robert allowed the space and grace for the main character to come the his own version of faith. It was never preachy or contrived. Just raw and kind. Well done!
Listen to this book! You won’t regret it!

Historia
Social scientist Brené Brown has ignited a global conversation on courage, vulnerability, shame, and worthiness. Her pioneering work uncovered a profound truth: Vulnerability—the willingness to show up and be seen with no guarantee of outcome—is the only path to more love, belonging, creativity, and joy. But living a brave life is not always easy: We are, inevitably, going to stumble and fall.

I'm so grateful I came across this book when I did. I tell anyone who confides in me any of their struggles, about Brene Brown and especially this book. I had one of the most powerful "a-ha" moments while listening to this book. I have found healing and gained the ability to be more generous in my assumptions of others, among many other things.

A transformative memoir!
Revisado: 04-11-17
I was familiar with Alissa and her story before listening to this book. I thought that it would be similar to what I had already heard, but everything in this book was a true gift. Her words provided so much healing that I needed at this time. Her book is not self-serving or self-congratulatory in any way. It is purely a testimony of where healing comes from, how to obtain it, and recognizing that you cannot do it alone. She maintained her truth while still preserving the sacred memories of her daughter and conveying what she obviously was meant to tell in her story. Beautifully written, beautifully delivered. I was blessed to be able to hear these words straight from her mouth.

Historia
Researcher and thought leader Dr. Brené Brown offers a powerful new vision that encourages us to dare greatly: to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly, and to courageously engage in our lives. In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on 12 years of research, her book argues that vulnerability is not weakness but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection.

Don't discard this book because of the narrator!
Revisado: 03-18-17
So many people reviewed this book, in my opinion, unfairly. I enjoyed every minute! So many complained about the narrator. I believe these people became spoiled by listening to the author before listening to this book. I would suggest that you listen to this book 1st, then move onto the other books read by the author herself. If you have already listened to her, and you want to listen to this book, keep in mind that this narrator is an actor, not a researcher. Of course I would prefer to listen to Brene Brown, but this book is life-changing and should not be discarded because of the narrator. I actually enjoyed her narration. It reminded me very much of the voice of Siri! Soothing and perfect annunciation and diction. That aside, listening to the content of this book resulted in some of the most profound paradigm shifts I've ever experienced. So many things in this book will leave their mark on my life. This is a must listen-to!

Historia
On a cold February night in 2007, a devoted father of four and a seventeen-year-old drunk driver both received life sentences. In one violent, devastating instant, both faced a drastically different - and uncertain - future. But as Chris Williams sat in his demolished vehicle, staring at the car that had just caused the death of his wife, his unborn baby, his nine-year-old daughter, and his eleven-year-old son, he committed to do something extraordinary: he would forgive.

Favorite book I've read this year.
Revisado: 11-24-15
Since I first heard of Chris Williams' story, I was fascinated by his ability to forgive. I was excited that I was able to listen to him read his own words and hear from his own mouth how he was able to do what most would think is unimaginable. His sweet and simple testimony conquered a most complicated situation. I will be giving this book as a gift as my favorite thing I came across this year.
