Historia
The sand-blasted world of Arrakis has become green, watered, and fertile. Old Paul Atreides, who led the desert Fremen to political and religious domination of the galaxy, is gone. But for the children of Dune, the very blossoming of their land contains the seeds of its own destruction. The altered climate is destroying the giant sandworms, and this in turn is disastrous for the planet's economy.

Once started, I had to finish
Revisado: 08-08-24
I enjoyed the continuing story of Dune. I’m still trying to get my mind on how this part of the story developed, but I enjoyed it. I certainly did not see that coming. I won’t say more. Better that way. ;)

Historia
Sixteen hundred years ago Britain left the Roman Empire and swiftly fell into ruin. Grand cities and luxurious villas were deserted and left to crumble, and civil society collapsed into chaos. Into this violent and unstable world came foreign invaders from across the sea, and established themselves as its new masters. The Anglo-Saxons traces the turbulent history of these people across the next six centuries. It explains how their earliest rulers fought relentlessly against each other for glory and supremacy, and then were almost destroyed by the onslaught of the vikings.

Great intro to Anglo-Saxon England
Revisado: 11-30-23
I liked that this book gave just enough to get a good intro to pre-Norman England. I look forward to digging further. Audio book is wonderfully narrated.

Historia
“In wartime,” Winston Churchill wrote, “truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.” For Britain’s counterintelligence operations, this meant finding the unlikeliest agent imaginable - a history professor named Alfred Vicary, handpicked by Churchill himself to expose a highly dangerous, but unknown, traitor. The Nazis, however, have also chosen an unlikely agent.

Great story and well read
Revisado: 09-17-23
This story is clearly written and kept my attention throughout. As with all of Daniel Silva books the characters are interesting and develops sufficiently to give value to the story. The story develops evenly and has a great finish. The narration is clear, coming more like a story being told than read. I enjoyed is entirely and definitely recommend it.

Great book but narration too choppy
Revisado: 09-28-20
I’m sorry but the narration is too choppy. Of all the great English narrators this one is too distracting.

Had the Angles and Saxons not purposefully migrated to the isles of the Britons and brought with them their already-well-developed use of language, Angelina Jolie may never have appeared in the movie Beowulf. Professor Michael D.C. Drout is at his best when lecturing on the fascinating history, language, and societal adaptations of the Anglo-Saxons.

Interesting and not what I thought it would be
Revisado: 09-23-20
I crave info about the Anglo-Saxon period. This seemed to be right up that alley. But instead a deep history it’s instead one centered of their language and select writing as literature. At first I was disappointed that is was not proper history but Dr Drout narrative kept me listening, and through it all gave me a more sense of history than I would have otherwise. I purposely am leaving out reviewing the story to let Dr Drout pleasantly surprise you.

Lavar Burton not good reader

I love Cosmos. I like Lavar Burton but NOT the way he reads this story. Like fingernails scratching a chalk board. Money wasted.

Historia
This is the fifth audiobook in the "Mars Series". There is a game on Mars similar to chess - very similar, save that it is played on a board of a hundred squares, and with ornate pieces. The Martians call it jetan, and it is as old as the civilization of Barsoom. But in the Martian city of Manator, jetan is no game.

Good story, bad reading
Revisado: 07-10-17
The sample reading showed promise, with a Virginian draw for John Carter. However the reader seemed to abandon this soon and began a very choppy rhythm that I just couldn't listen to. I hope Amazon will refund this purchase.
