The only thing worse than an anthology pushing politics is badly written, boring, and preachy anthologies pushing politics.
I read to escape NOT to be battered by shallow stories with a single narrative that is most definitely NOT dystopia or apocalypse but a rather obviously a reaction to todays politics. I might have even been able to overlook the obvious bias if the stories were not so awful. Good writing requires more than just woke ideology. JJ Adams used to know that but obviously his politics are now more important than providing entertaining and DIVERSE perspectives in fiction.

Adams anthologoes used to be good

I love anthologies for the diverse styles and stories. These are not diverse, they are preachy. His work feels like an indoctrination manual into woke ideology NOT an anthology of dystopian stories. No more Adams anthologoes for me unless they were published before 2016. The only diversity he hates is diversity of thought and his editing shows he no longer cares if the writing is good or even interesting as long as it follows his politics.

I have loved every book Anne Mccaffrey has written until this one. I have read and re read her books for 30 years but this one just misses the mark. It feels like a beginner reader and is very choppy and childish. The story wasn't interesting and I just did not enjoy it at all.

wow. why this got good reviews escapes me.

This has actually been torture to listen to. I have read (or listened to) dozens of apocalypse books, both anthologies and novels. This is THE WORST. The reader is flat. The story is not well written and throwing in racist baloney doesn"t flesh out characters, it is just annoying. I can't even continue. What a waste of money.
