Historia
Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

Historia
A story about a boy who dreamed of rock and roll. A story about a girl who dreamed about a boy. An epic, all-consuming love story about betrayal, loss and learning, that spans over 20 years. This is the story of us: "I was just 11 years old, but I knew without a shadow of a doubt I was staring into the eyes of the boy I was going to love forever." An edgy coming-of-age love story that breaks all the rules and transcends the decades.

Umm what am I missing here?!
Revisado: 11-20-24
Seriously, what am I missing? All of these 5 star reviews can NOT be real. I stupidly grabbed this audiobook before listening to a sample because there were so many positive reviews raving about this beautiful and emotional book but really, this book is horrible! I could not finish it! It’s like a reading of a teenagers word for word diary with soft porn elements interspersed! I am no prude but most of it was so unnecessary and just icky and cringe worthy. I could not finish this book and I’m not sure if I happened to listen to the wrong book because there is no way this book has this many 5 star reviews!!

Interesting historical fiction
Revisado: 07-05-24
Sad and interesting learning about the things that are not spoken about. I feel for the many young women who were forced to give up their children because they had no other choices. Life was and is still sometimes quite cruel!

Historia
Sally Milz is a sketch writer for The Night Owls, a late-night live comedy show that airs every Saturday. But when Sally’s friend and fellow writer Danny Horst begins dating Annabel, a glamorous actress who guest-hosted the show, he joins the not-so-exclusive group of talented but average-looking and even dorky men at the show.

Historia
Masterfully blending elements of psychological suspense and true crime, Jessica Knoll—bestselling author of Luckiest Girl Alive and the writer behind the Netflix adaptation starring Mila Kunis—delivers an “unflinching and evocative” (Laura Dave, New York Times bestselling author) thriller in Bright Young Women. The book opens on a Saturday night in 1978, hours before a soon-to-be-infamous murderer descends upon a Florida sorority house with deadly results. The lives of those who survive, including a sorority president and key witness, Pamela Schumacher, are forever changed.

Perspective
Revisado: 01-18-24
I appreciate the perspective with which this book was written. So many documentaries and stories have been all about that disgusting, narcissistic, evil monster. It was refreshing to get this from another side and hear more about the victims. May the killer rot in hell…

WOW
Revisado: 12-12-23
WOW. This is a heavy book (literally and figuratively). I chose to listen to the audiobook of this over 600 page novel and I'm so glad I did. According to some readers the writing style was sometimes hard to follow due to the lack of punctuation. I found the different narrators really helpful and they were all great. The story is one of family, drama, trauma and despair. It wasn't a happy story but it was a very human story. What family is all roses and butterflies? But man, I was thrown with some of the twists and turns that these family members went through or the things they were hiding in their past. I am shocked at how well such a long book flowed. I didn't feel like it was slow or that it needed to get to the point. Every word seemed necessary and not forced. At the end it felt like it was all coming to a horribly tragic crescendo. I generally do not like books that end in a cliff hanger but I honestly don't know if I could have dealt with the ending that happened in this book if it were written. I feel like we needed to imagine the ending for ourselves. No matter what it was, it was tragic but I'm okay with imagining the scenarios that likely happened or pretending that maybe they didn't.

When an industrial accident unleashes an "airborne toxic event", a lethal black chemical cloud floats over the Gladneys' lives. The menacing cloud is a more urgent and visible version of the "white noise" engulfing the Gladneys - radio transmissions, sirens, microwaves, ultrasonic appliances, and TV murmurings - pulsing with life yet suggesting something ominous.

Worst book I’ve ever read!!!
Revisado: 01-04-23
If I could give this book 0 stars I would. This is the worst book I have ever read in my life. And sadly I decided to listen to the audiobook and the narrator sounds like a bored robot. I wanted to stick hot pokers into my ears and seriously considered jumping off a bridge multiple times during the majority of this boring, baseless, inane, pathetic excuse for a book. How this is considered a classic or an award winning book is beyond me. And to see that it has now become a movie makes me want to vomit. I would not waste another millisecond of my time on anything called "White Noise" - how they can promise to make this in any way entertaining is beyond me but thankfully I won't ever have to find out. WORST. BOOK. EVERRRRRRRR!
