Like many overeducated British, Brannigan, who is eager to point out an upbringing in The North of England while just as quickly muting that country’s accent, excels at discovering and telling the stories of former Red Guards and others, but fails when she offers comparisons of the PRC’s authoritarian government, of course, to Trump. Boring.

Measured Diagnosis and Warning Against What We Should Plainly See

Davidson offers us a calm assessment of the way we live now—not a conservative screed as has become so familiar. Rather he claims correctly that it won’t be politics that save us, but Christ, with the dribbled blood of the martyrs to come guiding us along the way.

The negative reviews are totally unjustified, seeming to have totally missed that the analytical lens applied to past American military action is just war theory—which draws almost exclusively from Catholic and post-Reformation Christian philosophy. Excellent analysis, very well read.
