Historia
Everyone Anton Waker grew up with is corrupt. His parents dealt in stolen goods, and he was a successful purveyor of forged documents until he abandoned it all in his early twenties, determined to live a normal life, complete with career, apartment, and a fiancée who knows nothing of his criminal beginnings. He’s on the verge of finally getting married when Aria—his cousin and former partner in crime—blackmails him into helping her with one last job.

Tremendous characters and storytelling
Revisado: 09-30-24
There is something marvelous in ESJ’s depiction the connection and tension between people, a superb clarity that resonates in me and draws me in. If I were to have had the book described to me, someone indicating the plot, I would not have bothered. I don’t really gravitate toward contemporary fiction, but she kills it from start to finish.

Magnificent storytelling!
Revisado: 09-10-24
Perhaps more compelling than THE EXPANSE series. Jefferson Mays is the perfect choice to narrate and the story is so vital, so powerful. A really great start to a new series. Can’t wait for the next!

Historia
Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

I didn’t expect to love this book
Revisado: 10-05-23
I won’t blather on with assessments and/or criticisms. This is a damned fine novel with characters and events that really penetrated and became a part of me as I listened. The narration was top notch and pure pleasure to listen to.

Incredibly satisfying
Revisado: 12-10-22
I don’t often write reviews, though I passionately appreciate many. I found nothing wanting in the entire series. Characters, plot, world, excitement, beauty and a satisfying conclusion. Marvelous narration and distinctive voices for the many characters were next level.

Superior storytelling sans Mutants or Marauders
Revisado: 11-20-16
Where does The Last Tribe rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I either love or hate books, of those I love, I put this one in the category of love a lot and will listen again.
What did you like best about this story?
No reliance upon Mutants, Marauding gangs, violent and predictable overlords. An emphasis on a female genius from New Hampshire. Sold!
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Love Scott Brick from Atlas Shrugged and Cronin's Passage, Twelve, City of Mirrors.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book gave me lots of "Driveway Moments," I didn't want it to end.

I can't believe I love a series about commercial freighters in space!
Revisado: 11-05-16
Mr. Lowell's Coast Guard and Maritme experience really make the stories come to life. It may be that as a fellow Maine born former Coastie myself there is a unique appeal to me, but, others also seem enamored of his stories as well. I can't wait for the next book in 11 days!

Historia
Decades before the American Revolution, Benjamin Franklin lamented that English settlers were constantly fleeing over to the Indians - but Indians almost never did the same. Tribal society has been exerting an almost gravitational pull on Westerners for hundreds of years, and the reason lies deep in our evolutionary past as a communal species. The most recent example of that attraction is combat veterans who come home to find themselves missing the incredibly intimate bonds of platoon life.
