Historia
Ashore on leave, Captain Sir Thomas Kydd learns of a dismal harvest and general hardship among the population. In Germany, Napoleon Bonaparte is celebrating victories that once again make his name feared throughout Europe. An armistice is signed and while the Allies lick their wounds Bonaparte sets to preparing for a grand advance. And, in a fragile peace, and saddled with huge war debts, the government has no choice but to place HMS Thunderer, along with many other Royal Navy ships, in reserve, until the Navy can decide what to do with their great fleets.

The End
Revisado: 10-16-24
I am sad to see an end to what has been my favorite series for years. I was hoping for one last naval clash at arms with Kydd at the command of a fleet, but I am not complaining. I look forward to the coming of more books. keep up the good work Julian!

Historia
In the spring of 1992 (eight years before the publication of In the Heart of the Sea), Nat Philbrick was in his late 30s, living with his family on Nantucket, feeling stranded and longing for the thrill of victory of a national sailing championship he had won 15 years earlier. Was it a midlife crisis? It was certainly a watershed for the journalist turned stay-at-home dad, who impulsively decided to throw his hat into the ring, or water, again.

it was an enjoyable listen, performance was good, and the story was also good. This is really a book for someone who also sails, which I am so I rather enjoyed it.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Unexpected
Revisado: 06-13-22
not my usual run of the mill book. I am a 22 year old male, and I usually keep it to war and action books, but for some reason audible suggested this book and I am so glad it did. I listened to this in 2 days, which I have not done with any book in quite a long time. the story was beautiful, I truly felt for the character on multiple levels. there was never a moment I was bored, but always wanting more. the narration was great, she did a beautiful job with the accents, no eccentricity which I appreciate. if you come by this gem, just buy it. you will not regret it in the slightest!

Historia
1812. Arriving back in England after his successes in the Adriatic, Captain Sir Thomas Kydd is bestowed with honours. In London, he's greeted by the Prince Regent, who, despite Kydd's protestations that he's happy with his present command, insists he be given a bigger ship - HMS Thunderer, a 74-gun ship of the line. But she's old, and being part of a standing fleet, Kydd's chances of further fame and distinction are slim indeed.

it was a great book!
Revisado: 10-14-21
a new book from my favorite series read by my favorite narrator! love the Kydd series, super well written with lots of character development and lots of attention paid to the characteristics of the ships and this is a fine addition and that's no error. love that he brought to life a real ship, His majesty's ship of the line Thunderer of the Colluden class of liner built in 1783 with a distinguished career. keep writing Julian!

such a lovely book. probably my favorite series of books. this the first book takes a totally different look at sealife to most of this era, following the starting of an epic career of a pressed landsmen turned seamen. This book is also read by my favorite readers, Christian Rodska. Take the plunge and buy it, you won't look back!
