Historia
In this fascinating account, Ann Rule delivers a tour de force: a whirlwind of misguided love, denial, guilt, and passions out of control; a series of brilliantly manipulated crimes; the bizarre and horrifying tale of two families brought to ruin; and, at the center of it all, the heartless, supremely selfish sociopath whose evil hid behind soft words and gentle manners, but who destroyed—without mercy—those who loved her.

I love Ann’s deep dive into human behavior
Revisado: 12-12-23
Ann does not disappoint in terms of giving the listener a view into the mind of seemingly normal people. I thought the story was kind of obvious for 2023 standards but was probably revolutionary when written in the early 1990s

Historia
With each sensational chapter, A Dangerous Woman documents the life of Florence Gould, a fabulously wealthy socialite and patron of the arts, who hid her dark past as a Nazi collaborator in 1940s Paris. Born in turn-of-the-century San Francisco to French parents, Florence moved to Paris, aged 11. Believing that only money brought respectability and happiness, she became the third wife of Frank Jay Gould, son of the railway millionaire Jay Gould.

Loved it

I am fascinated by these rich women from 1880s - mid 1900s. I had never heard of Florence so it was a great biography & insight into life during WW2 France.
I long thought the song “Where Do You Go To My Lovely” was about Sophia Loren but could it be our dear Florence Lacoze Gould?

Interesting Story

I love books that also teach me something new about a particular religious, political, or cultural group.
My one criticism is that, for me, the amount of people involved sometimes made it difficult to keep track…. The woes of audio books I suppose ☺️

Mr. West is smarter than you.
Revisado: 01-28-21
11.5 hours of self-gratifying hypocrisy. Endless back handed compliments about vast groups of people that happen to disagree with Mr. West. Almost 80% of this theories are ones I was not aware of until this book. Reminiscent of a high-school English student changing the font to 2.5 spacing in order to fill the pages.
I’m not even a conspiracy theorist but I found this book very condescending. Is the earth flat? No clue but maybe. Was 9/11 an inside job? Doubt it but it’s possible. Is global warming real? Probably but maybe not. The only ascertainable fact is that this book will either offend you or bore you to death.
