Historia
A forgotten colony of humans live on a water world circling a tiny, faded star on the edge of the galaxy. The crew of their newest flagship, the Rampart, encounters an alien scout who is being chased by a dangerous foe. The encounter shakes the beliefs held by the people of Lashmere. With the aid of the mysteries of the origin tablet, they discover the true origins of their colony. These may be the last humans in the universe. Can they survive against their ancient enemy? Their only choice is to embrace an unknown past and fight with everything they have.

Logical inconsistencies but a good yarn
Revisado: 08-15-18
The editor should be ashamed. The author should get better guidance.
The story is fun though the writing is stilted and overly florid. Other reviewers have complained about the level of ex-machina in the plot and I’d agree but what really sticks in your craw is the whole setup of the sphere of satellites that prevent FTL drive INTO the system that is mentioned 1 time and then to no consequence and which never appear again. This is but one inconsistency
The story is fun though.

Historia
Richard K. Morgan has received widespread praise for his astounding 25th-century novels featuring Takeshi Kovacs, and has established a growing legion of fans. Mixing classic noir sensibilities with a searing futuristic vision of an age when death is nearly meaningless, Morgan returns to his saga of betrayal, mystery, and revenge, as Takeshi Kovacs, in one fatal moment, joins forces with a mysterious woman who may have the power to shatter Harlan's World forever.

The recording of this is very poor
Revisado: 05-24-18
I am trying to return this book because the narrator is bad and apparently the recording was made in a lavatory.
!!! I’m sad because I was really into the series.

Historia
In the 25th century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person's consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or "sleeve") making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

Story amazing, performance jarring
Revisado: 05-13-18
Yes I bought this book because I enjoyed the Netflix series. Yes the are important and fundamental differences that make the series more watchable but the book is better for the lack.
What gets very old, and it happens more as you progress through the story, is the fact that the narrator’s performance is done in two different sound environments. This is then edited together so poorly that there is one sentence, right at the end of the book, that is stitched 3 times minimum. It gets so bad at the end that it becomes a distraction that the story. What’s worse is that one of the narrations is full and surrounding and rich while the other is hollow and tinny and poor.
Can me fore the story but mind the edited performance!
