Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Thank you, Little Viola, I see you.
Revisado: 05-08-23
I had to pause my listening more often than I can admit. Miss Davis, you are incredibly dedicated to your craft and yourself. Sound selfish, it shouldn't. We must take care of ourselves BEFORE we can be honest to others, be present with others, and share with others.
So why did I have to pause my listening? I had to pause because for the first time , without the saying even being said, I felt I understood what MY privilege as a white woman in America means. Yes. this is what this book showed me.
This book showed me how I have been shown through television, plays, and movies... I have found so many different characters I could relate to. These characters being poor, rich, abused, fantastic, ugly, beautiful, sexual, demur, cartoon characters, happy sad...and the list does on.
I see now how because I had so many characters I could relate to or "see" myself being anything or anyone.
Girls of color have not had the same privilege, if you will. This book showed me how women without this privilege were given less role models to look up to and emulate.
That is really all I can say about this for now, but I am so fortunate to be in the same age-range as Miss Viola and therefore able to understand the times we grew up and have a better understanding of what white privilege is in my life.
Thank you again, Miss Davis. Thank you very much for your book.

Made my heart happy
Revisado: 03-31-22
This book was a joy to listen to. Tan France's willingness to share was fresh in how he explained how the sights, sounds, tastes, smells, attitudes, people, art, fashion, friendship, loss, racism, and love has shaped him. He never put any falsity that he was a perfect person; but his love for himself and people is quite profound. This book made my heart happy because hearing Tan just talk about life and experiences and lessons learned, put me in a happy place every time I put the book on. I highly recommend this book! Thank you, Tan France, for sharing of yourself.

Some lines should never be crossed. While detective Cormac Reilly faces enemies at work and trouble in his personal life, garda Peter Fisher is relocated out of Galway with the threat of prosecution hanging over his head. But even that is not as terrible as having to work for his overbearing father, the local copper for the pretty seaside town of Roundstone.

Lest we not forget those who fought for our future
Revisado: 04-25-20
As a woman veteran, I am so grateful to the men and women who for over 100 years fought for all to have the right to vote. As time passes, we take for granted that we can vote. Some choose to and some choose not to. Oh what freedom to have that decision. Let us not forget there was a time where no matter what, not everyone we were allowed to vote.
Though there are many things in our nation's history that people swear "Never to forget," then instead of not exclaiming to remember, but to celebrate the rights and freedoms that we do have now. All the wh, keeping in the back of our minds that there were those who fought and suffered and even some died for that right.
Whether you believe in gun rights, right to life or right to choose, the right to divorce the right to marry, the right to equal pay, or even the right to vote or serve in the military. All of these things did not all come naturally to our country, they had to be fought for, thought about, voted on, persuaded, and proven to be the good for all. This book was very well written of course, and the narration gave a voice to what seems a lifetime or actually many lifetimes ago.
