Great story, solid writing if you don't mind numerous pov shifts
Revisado: 04-14-24
Really enjoyed the set and setting of this book, with a lot of unexpectedly dark and graphic depictions of violence with elements of horror (one series of events reminded me quite a bit of the monster from The Thing). Very light on the gamelit aspects but if you don't mind numerous pov shifts (got old imo) with sometimes little focus on MC, this was a solid listen and I'm glad I picked it up. Narration from this performer was solid as usual. Looking forward to picking up the next book to see where this goes, would just hope for less pov shifts and stronger focus on the MC.

Historia
How would you like to begin an apprenticeship in the mystical craft of artificery? You'll learn things that most people can only dream of. You'll make swords with self-sharpening blades, bows that fire by themselves, and clocks that can read the future. Even better, you'll get to live in the sunlit village of Sunhampton, a sleepy little crafter's village of cobbled streets, cozy taverns, and pleasant bakeries. If this sounds like just the life for you, then grab a beer and a sweet roll, and follow Lewis as he begins his new life as an apprentice.

To complete it, he has to travel to the lands of humans and dwarves, where he'll find new enemies and have to build new alliances, all while rediscovering powers lost for centuries. His enemies aren't idle, though, and now the dark god Morx has taken a hand in the Sorcerer Ascendant's defeat. Restoring the Arcane Doors is impossible. Freeing the lands of Darkness is impossible. Facing the Lord of Nightmares is impossible. But Aranos is determined to do the impossible.

Revisado: 06-12-22
MC is so OP but damn I still enjoy this series! This authors output is INSANE, but the work still remains pretty solid (with some weak points here and there, but to be expected with this much content) but if you're not the overly picky type, I would highly recommend. Has actually become one of my all time fav litrpg's.

Removed star for end of book
Revisado: 03-23-22
Big oof for the truncated ending of the book. And the amount of exp MC gets for completing the quest? Really? Love this series but some of the decisions this author makes realllly make me shake my damn head. Also author, it wouldn't kill you to write a book longer than 8 or so hours at a time. The end of this book was shyte. Could've been better had it not been so truncated. Still, look forward to the rest of the series. Which hopefully will be a bit longer and less random.

He's tried to ignore them for too long. But the long-simmering conflict between Montana's holding at Coggeshall and the Night Goblins who also occupy the valley is about to boil over. Usually, goblins aren't anything to write home about: an enemy without much size, intellect, or weaponry. But these goblins? Well, that's just not the case. These are goblins with limitless resources, never-before-seen tactics, and horrifying monsters at their disposal. Worst of all, they don't fear death in the slightest. They just might force a good guy to become what he has always struggled to defeat.

In a not-so-distant future, a deadly pandemic has forced the world into social isolation. Confined to their homes, millions now survive off drone-delivered food packages and online-only interactions. It’s an especially lonely life for John Chambers, a drone shipment coordinator for the monolithic Chum Corporation. Trapped in his dead-end job and having just turned 40, John’s started spending more time grinding in virtual reality MMORPGs than he does grinding for his real-world job--and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by human resources!

Pretty entertaining. Could have been better
Revisado: 05-22-21
The story itself is somewhat weak I feel, more could have been done with complexity of the characters abilities and leveling. In that way its a bit shallow, but the book overall is pretty entertaining and the concept is unusual and new. The voice performances were great. The retro synth music in parts was pretty enjoyable too.
But my God was the character Jessica unbelievably unlikeable. MC tries saving her twice, she never thanks him once, and acts like an arsehole throughout the book, even going so far as slamming doors and destroying lamps in the mc's house while barely apologizing for it. Unless her character has the giant stick removed from her colon I could definitely do without her. Besides that the other 2 MC's were pretty likeable. Overall I would recommend.
