Surprises along the way

Stories of lost and found love, redemption, self discovery always appeal to me. This one knocked my socks off with its twist.
Just can't understand why the narration for Helen had to be so annoyingly whining through the whole book. There were times I seriously very nearly just trashed it.

Loved the compelling audiobook version!

I am only an hour into this and I am so confused . Ms. Foy's narration is too...something. Maybe she speaks too fast, maybe her accent , I'm not sure. The Prologue was all over the place from childhood to adulthood in several different characters. I have no idea where we were or when. I usually love Kate Morton but I am vastly disappointed I spent money on this one.

I have been reading Patricia Cornwall for more than 20 years. The intensity, relationships and realism of Kay Scarpetta is fascinating. I just really, really wish she would not use the word "And" to start a sentence. I learned in third grade that it is grammatically incorrect.

A highly entertaining, well written and read mystery. No terrifying horror or blood and gore. Flo and Lady Armstrong are a wonderful pair of friends who enjoy a good time. Can't wait for #9.

I enjoyed the story and the back and forth between eras. Steve West should have been Gabriel's voice throughout. That would have made it a 5 * performance

Baldacci Always Delivers

Great twists and turns and surprises along the way. Mr. Baldacci knows how to keep his readers engaged and on our toes . I did not care at all for Frances Cassidy. First of all, no one could possibly really talk like that with their back teeth clenched the whole time and , second, voices got mixed up with poor dileaneation. It was difficult to tell who was supposed to be speaking sometimes. Ah well. The story was great. Read it rather than listen.

You'll never guess!

Another outstanding performance by Robert Glenister. He makes Gailbrath's characters come to life. The story line for the mystery is full of twists and turns that hold interest throughout all 30 hours. I was blown away by the revelation. I do wish that Strike and Robin would quit thinking the worst of each other and beating themselves up for imagined faults. Those parts of the story are simply distracting and a waste of a potentially great relationship.

A strong girl because of her strong family. Enough suspense to keep the adrenaline pumping and to wonder what's next. I'm kind of wishing it went on for maybe two more chapters to finish it properly. Nora Roberts is always a good read.
