Historia
Mary Rose MacKinnon is a successful author of YA fiction doing a tour of duty as stay-at-home mom while her partner Hilary takes a turn focusing on her career. She tries valiantly to balance the (mostly) solo parenting of two young children with the relentless needs of her aging parents. But amid the hilarities of full-on domesticity arises a sense of dread. Do others notice the dents in the expensive refrigerator?

Historia
Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie....

Lots and lots of filler!
Revisado: 11-23-13
What disappointed you about Six Years?
Seems as though the author had found a good plot, made a plan, sat down and started writing anything that came into his head to come up with the appropriate number of pages. When I get lectures on "don't text and drive" and descriptions of what characters are ordering for breakfast or how to make coffee using K-cups, I know I made a bad choice!
What could Harlan Coben have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Historia
Nora and Fern's relationship as mother and daughter is a tumble of love and distrust. To Nora, her daughter is an enigma - at the same time wonderful and unfindable. Fern sees her mother as treacherous - for busting up their family to move in with her lover, Jeanne. As their lives become complicated by the arrivals of a skateboarding boyfriend for Fern, a shadowy affair for Nora, a baby in need of a family, and by the failing health of Lucky, their beloved dog, this mother and daughter find their way onto a fresh footing with each other.

Any additional comments?
This is one of my favourite books by Carol Anshaw. I had read it a couple of times and couldn't wait to hear it on Audible... God what a let down this was. I couldn't even make it to the end of the first chapter, the narrator was so bad! I truly wish this book could be given another chance... this story calls for witty narration and characterisation! Please get Shelly Frasier to do it!
As for now... I want my money back!

Historia
Moving back through the 1940s, through air raids, blacked out streets, illicit liaisons, sexual adventure, to end with its beginning in 1941, The Night Watch is the work of a truly brilliant and compelling storyteller. This is the story of four Londoners, three women and a young man with a past, drawn with absolute truth and intimacy.

One of the best narrators I've heard!
Revisado: 01-23-11
A word to Johannes H... Thank you so much for making me aware of the dangers of falling on books depicting "these kinds of relationships"; I mean with all the titles offered on this site, and no warning at all, I might inadvertently fall on a heterosexual novel! ...
What an incredible narration feat from Juanita McMahon! I don't know how many characters there are in this book, but the voices, men and women, young and old, of all classes are rendered superbly. Moreover, the dialogues are spot on!
I hear the BBC is working on a TV version... Hope it's half as good as this audiobook is!
