It's only a story, but leave the light on, ok?
Revisado: 02-20-13
OMG, Matthew, what the heck were you thinking? You just know a chararcter with a name like Tyranthus Slaughter is not going to be a cream puff. This story is brutal, terrifying , and redeeming all in one. When the usually self assured, yet humble Matthew is so full of himself in the beginning, you know he will be taken down a few notches pretty soon. I really enjoy the way Mc Cammon portrays the Native Americans, twice now they have pulled Matthew's foolish butt out of the fire. This story is like the energizer bunny... just keeps going and going, sometimes it's so repulsive that you would like to turn it off, but you just can't- you need to know what happens! Very satisfying- as the first 2 books were. PS- Eduardo Bellerini is my favorite narrator, too

Historia
In his wickedly brilliant first novel, Debut Dagger Award winner Alan Bradley introduces one of the most singular and engaging heroines in recent fiction: Eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison. It is the summer of 1950 - and a series of inexplicable events has struck Buckshaw, the decaying English mansion that Flavia’s family calls home. A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath.

Slow burn, but it pays off.
Revisado: 11-28-12
What did you love best about Folly?
It all made sense in the end- every word, every thought had a purpose.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Folly?
The face -off in the window.
Have you listened to any of Frank Muller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't, but that voice of his was perfect for the atmosphere of this book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, it moves along at a slower pace, but it's weaving its tapestry carefully.
Any additional comments?
Just keep listening; it's worth it.

Excellent audiobook
Revisado: 11-28-12
Would you listen to Speaks the Nightbird again? Why?
This is a very long book, but is worth the time. It is technically excellent and doesn't leave a loose end or unanswered question.
What other book might you compare Speaks the Nightbird to and why?
I can't think of another book I have listened to that is as tight and sustains interest like this one over such a long reading time.
What does Edoardo Ballerini bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I love this narrator, and he is actually why I checked this out to begin with. He has an astounding command of voices and dialects. The best part of his performance is that one forgets that he is performing. He brings the characters to life so well.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found myself being educated in many of the ways of the characters daily lives.
Any additional comments?
Fantastic and wonderful book that increased my awareness of how hard life was for so many long ago.

Dark, dark, obsessive revenge
Revisado: 09-23-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It's kind of a depressing , wierd story, so I would be very careful who I recommending it. better not be too squeamish.
What other book might you compare The Keeper of Lost Causes to and why?
I thought about the "Dragon Tattoo" books, because of the similsr sounding words, dark subject matter, etc, but it is totally different.
What about Erik Davies’s performance did you like?
The narrator was effective because I was unaware of him, the story was the star.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Some people never forgive, or forget.
Any additional comments?
I liked the book very much.

I really liked this story. The middle dragged on a bit, but it turned out to be very necessary. It's well written and well narrated. It's stars off quickly and keeps you guessing, but best of all it all get wrapped up in the end without those pesky loose ends. Loved it.
