Two years after Nina Peterson's brutal murder, her husband, Steve, is still fighting to bring the killer to justice. Their six-year-old son, Neil, remains haunted by the terrible vision of the murderer's hands wrapped around his mother's throat. And Sharon Martin, who has grown to love both Steve and Neil, wishes only to ease their pain and suffering. Historia
Deftly blending such genres as mystery, science fiction, and classic literature, Jasper Fforde’s gleefully irreverent New York Times best-selling Thursday Next novels defy categorization. In this sixth installment, the threat of all-out Genre war looms over BookWorld. But with the real Thursday Next retired in the real world, the Council of Genres has no other choice than to tap the fictional Thursday to save the day. Her mission as emissary is to prevent the brewing war—but her task is made more difficult by a hidden foe manipulating events.

Historia
They were just kids when Claudette McPhearson took them all in. Eight of them all together. All different races and ethnic makeups, but she loved them as her own. One woman taught them how to love, trust, and respect one another. She was the only glue that kept them together, the only one they wanted to please and never let down. She had been their light at the end of a long troublesome tunnel - it shined so bright. Then, one dreadful day, it all came to a crashing halt.

Modern remake
Revisado: 04-05-17
Seems like a remake of MAFIA novel. Graphics sex and lots of profanity. Not good enough to make me listen to part 2.

Historia
Jan Reyna is a murder squad detective, British by adoption and choice, Faroese by birth and history. Called back to the remote Danish Faroe Islands when his father suffers a paralysing stroke, Reyna is forced to reexamine his decades-long rejection of the past and of his father in particular. But in this now-foreign country, whose language and customs he no longer understands, Reyna is also drawn into a rare Faroese murder case.

Enjoyable foreign mystery
Revisado: 12-06-16
What made the experience of listening to The Blood Strand the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed the story and the the new geography, however had difficulty with foreign names. I really had to concentrate at the beginning to keep characters in place. My fault for not being familiar with Scandinavian names.

Historia
Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching—yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.

Hard to follow, did not finish.

I listen to be entertained while walking. I found the tangents and images to be hard to follow and to take away from under lying story. I listened to 4 hours and gave up.

Historia
This, the first in the splendid series of Jack Aubrey novels, establishes the friendship between Captain Aubrey, Royal Navy, and Stephen Maturin, ship's surgeon and intelligence agent, against the thrilling backdrop of the Napoleonic wars. Details of life aboard a man-of-war in Nelson's navy are faultlessly rendered: the conversational idiom of the officers in the ward room and the men on the lower deck, the food, the floggings, the mysteries of the wind and the rigging, and the road of broadsides as the great ships close in battle.

Didn't finish
Revisado: 08-26-08
I listen to a lot of books during my commute to and from work, 60 min each way. I enjoy many types, mysteries, sci fi, I just could not get in to this one. I think it requires too much concentration to follow and I just could not commit. The terms are unknown, and if you miss a definition you must go back. On at least 3 occasions I thought my ipod had skipped as I was totally lost. I gave up.

Historia
Richard K. Morgan has received widespread praise for his astounding 25th-century novels featuring Takeshi Kovacs, and has established a growing legion of fans. Mixing classic noir sensibilities with a searing futuristic vision of an age when death is nearly meaningless, Morgan returns to his saga of betrayal, mystery, and revenge, as Takeshi Kovacs, in one fatal moment, joins forces with a mysterious woman who may have the power to shatter Harlan's World forever.

Long, hard to follow
Revisado: 05-28-07
I really enjoyed the first two. But this one was long, I almost stopped listening 2 or 3 times. Seems to be a lot more descriptive narrative not required for story. So many characters make it hard to keep track of them. If I did not have the attachment of listening to first two, I would not have finished it. Echo effect not good, narrator grows on you, but he should have pronounced Kovacs, the same as in the first two.

Disappointing
Revisado: 10-19-06
I had a very hard time getting into this book but I persevered. It is the first of the series I have listened to. Perhaps it is just not my thing. I found that it dragged for the first couple of hours and that it took a long time to tie things together. By the end my opinion improved but I donlt think I will listen to others in the series.
