A Whole New Universe
Revisado: 04-05-15
Would you listen to Test of Magnitude again? Why?
Yup....and I intend to, just before getting the next one. Unfortunately, that's not available yet.
What other book might you compare Test of Magnitude to and why?
Stars Wars...actually not sure that ever made it into book form but that's the kind of incredibly detailed Universe that's created here.
What does James Killavey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Really brought it to life. This is the third book I've heard of his and he does not disappoint.
First time I heard him do "voices." ( The other two were non-fiction.) Was really pleased with his versitility
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No ... too long. Made for a wonderful commute for about a week, though.
Any additional comments?

Historia
Between April and July 1944, Truman Smith flew 35 bombing missions over France and Germany. He was only 20 years old. Although barely adults, Smith and his peers worried about cramming a lifetime's worth of experience into every free night, each knowing he probably would not survive the next bombing mission. Written with blunt honesty, wry humor, and insight, The Wrong Stuff is Smith's gripping memoir of that time.

Historia
This remarkably immediate memoir tells of the U.S Army's essential role in the Pacific campaigns alongside the Navy and Marine Corps. America's sons, born in the first quarter of the 20th century, were forged in the twin crucibles of the Great Depression and World War II. The values and attitudes of these mostly idealistic young males ultimately sustained them in horrific trials against incredibly courageous, and often suicidally-committed, Japanese soldiers blindly loyal to their superior officers and the Emperor.

A very good listen
Revisado: 04-05-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes - for anyone who wants to understand what life was like aboard a destroyer in WW2.
What did you like best about this story?
Details. It's unlike most first-person accounts of sea duty during WWII. There are details of seamanship that don't usually make into these accounts. As a former Naval Officer, I appreciate that.
Which scene was your favorite?
The Chapter on the occupation and the visits to the Geisha houses. Boys will be boys, especially Navy boys!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Both, depending on the Chapter and the scene. Some of the stuff during the occupation chapter was hilarious.
Any additional comments?
Narrator did a very good job. I have added him to my list of favorites.
