Two Different Books?
Revisado: 04-29-25
The story line of the farcical drug/murder caper in the retirement village is so far removed from the background story of the stalker/rapist it was hard to reconcile the two. The writing and characters are good, as well as the performance. But the dark back story felt like a completely different book. And I just don’t enjoy psychotic violence against women as a plot. Probably wont recommend it.

Hamish has inherited his mother’s musical talents, Fin is the responsible brother, and Angus has the complicated and brooding personality to match his dashing good looks. But what all the brothers share is a concern that their beloved mother is living in her memories of her days on stage, while letting her present days pass her by.

Sweet Book, silly titled.
Revisado: 01-25-25
Sweet family story. Good performance. Almost didn’t choose it because the title sounds like a raunchy weekend. The title doesn’t do it any favors.

Most of the book is about women being treated badly. Makes you think all women are in danger in even modern Sicily. Not the feel good book about strong women I was hoping for.

Historia
She over 50, feisty, and oh so good at solving mysteries. Patricia Fisher is not your average woman. To start with she lives in a 73-room manor house and travels with a Jamaican butler who is part ninja and fakes his Downton Abbey accent. Then add to those facts that she just opened a private investigations business and throw in the worrying bit where people keep trying to kill her. When a climber suspiciously falls to his death and a local artist has her dog stolen, Patricia finds herself investigating two cases that seem to have no motive and no clues.

Fun Story - Appalling Performance
Revisado: 10-06-24
Bad accents, mispronounced words, constantly changing pace. I almost returned this book the performance was so bad. It could have been really charming. Patricia and her butler sound like they are from 1920, Barbie from 2020. It was so confusing. Downton Abby pronounced DOWN TOWN Abby! Too bad. The writing, story and characters are fun.

Not sure I’ll get trough it. The first portion is an endless description of alcohol addiction. With no motivation to care about the character. So far a real drag.

Cliche Story - Incorrect History
Revisado: 08-12-24
Good writing but the story line was too predictable. And the name of the Vanderbilt that married into the Blenhiem estate was Consuelo, not Caroline. Caroline was her mother that forced the marriage. She later divorced and did not have a good marriage.

Mostly Dreary
Revisado: 08-01-24
Most of the book is a struggle with alcoholism that got to be a slog in huge portions of the book. Then it all gets tidied up in the last chapter. Good characters and performance. Good writing but I got really bored with the alcoholism. That story has been told a lot.
