Historia
On the day the government decrees that women are no longer allowed more than 100 words daily, Dr. Jean McClellan is in denial. This can't happen here. Not in America. Not to her. This is just the beginning. Soon women are not permitted to hold jobs. Girls are no longer taught to read or write. Females no longer have a voice. Before, the average person spoke 16,000 words a day, but now women only have 100 to make themselves heard. But this is not the end. For herself, her daughter, and every woman silenced, Jean will reclaim her voice.

Can't even get past the first couple of chapters!
Revisado: 08-22-18
I was really excited yesterday when I noticed this new book. The premise looked very interesting. A dystopian story about women who can only speak 100 words a day. Wow! how will this play out? Well, I don't know because very early on you find out that Christianity is the reason for the entire silencing of Women. Not some wacko cult group or a few bad apples that are power hungry but the entire establishment of religion and, of course, white men. I just couldn't stomach much of this book. I read that this book is comparable to The Handmaids Tale. Well, its NOT!

Best book this year!!!!
Revisado: 06-08-17
Would you listen to The Wolf of the North, Book 1 again? Why?
Yep! I love coming of age stories, however, a lot of them out there are annoying. The author makes their trials too easy or the main character is always the only one coming out unscathed. This is not that kind of story. The author did an excellent job of weaving a vivid world and amazing characters.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wolf of the North, Book 1?
There are so many. I really like what he does at the end. Cant give it away.
What does Simon Vance bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His style of narration is spot on. He makes this story come alive.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I rooted for Wolfrick from the first chapter to the last.
Any additional comments?
I have listened to many stories like this one and this makes the top of the list. I cant wait for the next book to come out. I may just have to buy the paper copy and read it this weekend.

Historia
Annie Starling is missing her memory of the last eight weeks - the most devastating in history. It started in Russia and went global in a matter of days, the most virulent virus the world has ever known. It's stripping its victims of every last thing that makes them human. And that's just the beginning. The other survivors are no less dangerous than the infected. She meets Lane, who stops at nothing to assert power and control over everybody who's left; Kyle, who dreams of building a new world upon the ruins of the old.

I really wanted to like this book.
Revisado: 07-30-14
Would you try another book from Michael J. Totten and/or Steven Roy Grimsley?
I don't think I will.
What was most disappointing about Michael J. Totten’s story?
I liked the plot, however, the characters were very flat. The author only gives you a little background about these people and then he tries to put them in situations that really require a lot more insight. Example: One character apparently falls in love with another character, however, they never even had a serious conversation together. It just didn't work and I couldn't get into it. The choices these people make are really dumb.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Steven Roy Grimsley?
I thought the narrator was actually good. He is the only reason I even gave this 2 stars.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Annoyance

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Where does A Game of Thrones rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is one of the best audiobooks I have ever listened to. The narrator was not the best but he wasnt the worst either. I could tolerate him. The story is what was so great. I loved all the different people and their lives. Cant wait to listen to the next book in the series.

Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

One of the worst books I have ever listened to.
Revisado: 05-23-13
What disappointed you about NOS4A2?
The narrator made everyone sound like they were mental and very whiney.
What was most disappointing about Joe Hill’s story?
The entire plot was bad and the part involving religion was disturbing to me.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kate Mulgrew?
Anyone else. There are so many good female narrators I don't understand why anyone would go with someone who made everyone sound so dumb.
What character would you cut from NOS4A2?
I just couldn't get into this book at all I didnt like anyone really.
Any additional comments?
I don't know how this book ended. I just gave up and stopped listening. I don't normally write reviews, however, I thought I would so maybe I could save someone from using a credit on this.

They call me the Spider. I'm the most feared assassin in the South -- when I'm not busy at the Pork Pit cooking up the best barbecue in Ashland. As a Stone elemental, I can hear everything from the whispers of the gravel beneath my feet to the vibrations of the soaring Appalachian Mountains above me. My Ice magic also comes in handy for making the occasional knife. But I don't use my powers on the job unless I absolutely have to. Call it professional pride.

I love books with strong women charachters and this one was one of the best i have listened to this year. The story is really engrossing but the narrator really makes it great! Cant wait to down load the second book. I wish all narrators were this good!

VERY GOOD BOOK
Revisado: 09-07-10
I really liked this book. It was different from any other book i have listened to because there is a seperate person reading for each part. I wish more books were narrated this way. I thought the story line was great and the heroine was awsome. I wish i could find more books like this.

WONDERFUL!!
Revisado: 09-07-10
I loved the entire series - the narrator droned a little in all the books but still a good listen. You cant really catch up if you havent read the first 2 books. These books are really well written and so easy to listen to that i found myself listening all the time. I am really sad the series is over. The reason i gave 4 stars instead of 5 is i thought the first 2 were perfect and the last was really a wrap up with alot more charachters. That got a little tedious to follow sometimes. Anyway these are really great books.
